Breaking Away From Parents
Ok, I was confused on which topic I should put this thread under but I decided on Bad Ideas because I don't expect dumb ass kids, stoners or other people to reply. I'm looking for well thought out answers. Anyways, my parents have me on a really short chain. I have to go to bad at 10:30, have to tell them where I am at all times, got to tell them everything about my goddamn life, have to tell them what homework I have, have to say when I am going to do the homework etc. I know this is one of the normal teenage cries for help but I'm 16 and they treat me like a 10 year old. They think I'm so innocent and need A LOT of protection. I'm looking for ideas to get it through their heads that I'm an individual and that I'm old enough to not be coddled 24/7. I need a lot of ideas.
Any help? If anyone helps I'll be seriously grateful.
Thanks.

Re: Breaking Away From Parents
Talk to them about it. Make them see that you are no longer a young, uninformed, adolescent in a big big world of fear.
Confront them.
Breaking their rules, blah blah, disobeying them, will probably just make them tighten the chain, or bitch at you endlessly.

Re: Breaking Away From Parents
I'm sort of in the same boat. Recently I've been thinking about just leaving the house and coming back whenever I wanted. I don't think that'll work out too well so that's preobably not an option.
Just try talking first then tell them straight up if they don't reason with you. Give them a good honest rant about how you shouldn't be babied and pray for the best.

Re: Breaking Away From Parents
When I try to talk to them about it they often say "If you want us to stop putting restrictions on you, then you have to take all the responsibility for your life. You have to make all your own food, pay for all the things you need, etc.". My parents love me and I love them but I think we love each other too much and I need room.
Edit: LOL this sounds like such a whiny comment. Sorry

Re: Breaking Away From Parents
im 15. my parents are always saying, go to bed 1030, did you do your homework, do you have homework, where are you, what are you doing, what are you eating.
its called lying, its not that hard. everyday of school thsi year, i had so much homework and just told my parents i did it in study hall there like ok. when they ask where i am or who im with, im at a friends house with x x and x.
thats what i do, my parents dont trust me that much cause of "previous accidents" as they like to say. but just sitting down with them, talking to them like a mature young adult might be what they are waiting for so they can see that you are mature and responsible enough to do what you want

Is that supposed to be hard.
I've been paying for my own shit since I was 13. Your 16 get a fucking job.
Its not like at 16 your high maintenance. The only thing you really need to pay for is clothing. ($20 a week).
Hell your parents aren't even making you pay for your own food they just ask that you cook the god damn food.
Dude you got it easy all you have to do is take fucking care of yourself and they'll let you do what you want.
