and its starting to seriously cause issues. im not going to say why i cant get my license, but if i could i would. im always depending on someone else, im at home most of the day, i cant do shit i wanne do, i cant go to the parties id like to go to, i cant see the people i wanne see, cant go to the movies when i want, cant go to the mall when i want, cant continue my mma classes, cant get a girlfriend (last 2 relationships ended, and they probably wouldnt have if i had a car), cant get a job, cant do jack shit. I live in vegas and the only way around IS a car..

I didn't do my licence or get a car until was I was 30'ish. I wasn't that much of a problem, I always seem to get where I needed to be or more often than not where I shouldn't have been.

I understand that in america its different so I suppose the only real solution is to get your licence. Excepting being crippled or blind , what could be such an insurmountable problem? Especially as the american driving test is a joke compared to that which is required in europe (thats the opinion of american friends btw).

Well I'm in a similar situation but I'm younger. Small town so you cant walk anywhere, all my friends got licenses, I've got another year and a half because I moved (long ass mandatory permit for under 18 in this state). It sucks but I cant tell you much. Go to New York? Or you could do what I'm doing. Heavy binge drinking on home made wine and taking drugs. Doesn't really help the situation but damned if I'm gonna stop.

Move to somewhere with adequate public transportation services.

im not fully legal.. my visa went through some trouble when we came in.. my parents and my younger sister are fully legal, but we were missing some papers that were crucial for me to get a greencard or visa.. now im 18 and if i go to germany to take my lisence they will keep me there for the army..

and the new law that supposed to give visas to all immigrants wont be passed for another year probably

1. Yes, our driving tests are a joke compared to European tests.
2. In America everything is spaced far apart. I mean, its a 20 odd minute drive to my girlfriends house because for some reason her parents decided to live in a subdivision that far out of town. Thats just how shit is, its part of our city, yet its 20 minutes away. Same thing for most employment places, school ect.

You think 20 minutes is a drive? You obviously live in a town, not a city. It takes well over an hour and a half to get from one side of the valley to the other using the freeways, and that's not during rush hour.

Its a 20 mile drive to my nearest McDonalds :(

America is designed around the car, unlike many other nations which were built around either horse carriage traffic or - heaven forbid - human beings. They even have drive in convenience stores. It's absolutely nuts.

I was disqualified from driving earlier in the year and a few weeks ago the disqualification was over so I payed £50 to get my license back, and they didn't put my fucking name on it!!

...but I know how to fight the system! I went in to get a SORN declaration, and took them all! I have a huge stack of form V15(NI) if anyone is interested. :p
