Sorry to make *yet another thread* here, I'm a n00b moderator and sometimes it's really hard to know if I've done the right thing.

Anyway, A poster in SG suddenly posted something very embarassing and silly I wrote over three years ago. Something that could potentially damage online and offline friendships if anyone saw it.

It makes me very unhappy that someone would post something like that.

I was wondering if this was the right move to make? I will ofcourse remove the infraction if not.

That guys a douchebag. I dont think he deserves an infraction, but I also dont think anybody cares since he's such an idiot.

What's he gonna do, whine to Zok or AM? They dont like him either, I'm sure.

Because they're in the public eye, and hold positions of power. On a much smaller scale, you are experiencing the same thing. It's lame, but should not be a surprise.

I think you did the right thing. Anytime a regular attempts to deface a moderator's reputation, the thread should be closed/deleted and they should be infracted.

braun is just a dumbass, but I would have just edited the post and closed the thread.

It won't matter if he gets infracted into oblivion. They have a thousand other accounts.

I'm sorry that someone would pull something out of the past that was hurtful.

It will probably happen again. Many times.

Thankyou all for your responses to this topic, I'm glad I atleast did partially the right thing, allthough I will probably reverse the infraction if he whines enough.

This is where I get confused. If someone posts something that someone posted ages ago, be it a picture, or an embarassing thread,whatever, that person cant really be infracted as "posting personal information of another poster", can it?

All I could really do was classify it as spam.

I know it will happen again and again, even after I give up and quit SG or the rotation takes place. But aslong as I know the right thing to do I can deal with it. :)

They are already planning their next step and backing down would only lower their opinion of you; making you seem like an easy target.

Once again, I'm sorry that this is happenning.

You have to appear steadfast to these fellows. Uncaring helps as well, but that's somewhat more difficult for most.

I've had this same talk with people before; what I was told is that if it was posted before, then it's fair game.

I talked to the SuperMods and the original thread is now deleted.
