Being in Love
Here are a few of my thoughts. They might sound obvious but I'm relating them to Jesus coz I still think that what he's about is tip top:
Maybe I'm wrong but I get the impression a lot of people lack understanding about what it means to be in love. They automatically associate "being in love" in terms of a relationship between a male and a female.
To be in love with someone means that when you are "with them" you are in love, that is you experience love. Being in a relationship is one of the most effective ways of being in love but you don't necessarily need a member of the opposite sex to be in love. You can be in love with music, meaning when you listen to music it gives you the feeling of love. Shit the inventor of the pencil probably was in love with pencils.
I don't think it can be denied that love is probably the best feeling or state of being that we can experience. So it's better to be in love than to not be in love.
And here is where Jesus comes in. For through spiritual understanding, understanding the love of god (Which is no different from the love of Jesus), that god was everything, and all his other rosey beliefs about life he came to love "everything", for he saw everything as part of the beautiful, intricate, infinite expressions of a loving god.
Jesus was in love with everything, meaning when he was with everything or anything, he felt love. Is this not heaven?
This is the heavenly feeling his teachings are there to help us acheive, His teachings help us to understand how to love our neighbours and even our enemies. It doesn't really matter if your idea of God does exist or not. It is better to love than hate and this is what Jesus teaches. He teaches how to be in love.

The cost of your love for your imaginary friend is too high; too many others are paying the price. Go fuck yourself.

Re: Being in Love
Love is a bunch of chemicals being released in your brain to facilitate breeding. Really liking music or whatever has nothing to do with it, people just like to stretch the word because it has that positive feel to it
And if you need a 2000 year old man to tell you how to be a good person, I don't know what to tell you. Especially if the only way to make you a good person is to threaten you with eternal punishment

Cost?
As far as I'm concerned it's a win win situation.

I'm not not talking about "Being a good person".
A few years ago my thoughts about something were not good enough to release the chemicals you were talking about. Thanks to the new way of thinking that I have, as inspired by Jesus and many other related people, my thought patterns allow these chemicals to be released.

Is this "everything" limited?
Can you be in love with anger? Hate? Injustice? War?
How do you find love in "everything", Rizzo?

fun things are addictive. Being addictid to something is love. If you have a fun time with a person you get addicted to being in there company, your in love. The sexual love is something different, i can see a hot chick and want to fuck the shit out of her, but absolutly hate every minute of socializing with her. I REALLY enjoy drinking beer, i'm in love with it.
Addiction is a fairly well understood thing, its all in our heads, litterly in our brains.
Ow and you cant love everything, its fucking bullshit and your just fooling yourself. Its the goal of buddhist, hippies, and to the OP i guess but you'll never achieve it. To do so you have to sit in your backyard smoking pot EVERY day all day stairing at the sky. Even then it will be hard, because you will hate running out of food, good luck embrasing and loving starving to death.

Hate, injustice, and war are just different ways of expressing love.
Everything, is by no means, limited in anyway shape, form, or color.

Maybe through the filter of love you see anger , hate and war in a different light.
To illustrate what I mean, someone can say something to you which, if you were stressy and influenced by fear you may receive it negatively and take offense to it, but if you were feeling relaxed and influenced by love you would take it positively and playfully.
Life seen through loving eyes is very different than life seen through fearful eyes.

I quite agree Beany.
I also do not think anger always conflicts with love either.
But some people are just plain angry people. I was wondering if one could "be in love" with that state of mind.
Maybe, it's just an addiction?
Or...
More simply....a bad habit.

.
Well here's what I think.
From the angry persons perspective, the anger itself is born from a fear of some kind. The fear of a loss of control, the fear of having something taken away, the fear of being hurt, etc. So I don't think you can be angry and in love at the same time.
Anger comes from fear, and fear comes from your thoughts about something.
Are you angry because you got punched by a thug? Or are you happy because you'll have grown stronger from the experience? Whatever you think will effect how you feel.
This is one of the things Jesus and many other sources try to correct. They try to change your understanding of life so that your thoughts inspire love rather than fear.
And yeah, I don't think anger and love always conflict either. Sometimes you can express anger without actually being angry, for productive purposes.

What if you are angry because of injustices you see? How would that anger be fear-based?
I wonder if the people in the temple experienced fear when Jesus expressed his anger there.

Maybe it's because injustice tells us that the universe is unfair, and that if the universe is unfair to the victim then you also may suffer a misfortune despite your attempt to be a good person.
But this is where karma comes in. With karma there is no such thing as an injustice, and so you can be pleased that when someone falls over and hurts themself they have paid off karmic debt.
Did that answer your question I'm not sure?

So then, ultimately all would be just.
Why question then? Why question what is loving and what is not, instead just accept all as just?
If all is equal, that is. Why try to change what is balanced and fair by trying to change someone else's ways of thinking?

I'm not sure what you mean by "changing what is balanced and fair".
The aim is not to change what is balanced and fair. Thoughts and beliefs make a persons experience of reality. This experience can be soo much better depending on your thoughts and beliefs. Jesus says "with these understandings, life is heavenly". Try to understand them or not. It's up to you.

You say there is no injustice. If there is no injustice, then doesn't that suggest that all is fair and balanced?
My thoughts and beliefs = your thoughts and beliefs = someone else's thoughts and beliefs.
Who decides which is "better"?
How can I presume my own is?
Who makes that judgment?
Maybe I can explain "better" tomorrow....better implies there is something missing....does it not?

This whole "creating your own reality" seems so very self-absorbed to me.
These are things I just don't quite understand.
But....this is way off the original purpose of your thread, I think. I apologize for any straying I do. I have been told I tend to connect things in odd ways. :P

Re: Being in Love
Love! What do you know about it? You seem to incur a singularness to it when, in truth, Love is only something that can work in conjunction with other feelings. It is not a stand alone thing, it is not an entelechy like you think it is. The highest points of love often are accompanied and, intimately, connected to feelings like jealousy, anger, passion, and even sadness- it's complete opposite. It is meaningless to say that you can spend any amount of time in the pureness of love when the pureness of love doesn't exist! Christ's teachings aim to effect a game like Lel and Po-Lel: those sprites who, chasing each other for all eternity, came so as to inundate the summer spirits. But it is a pointless game: to experience True Love you must embrace also all those feelings which have accompanied it for, without those feelings, this "love" would seem to be transformed entirely.

And I absolutely cringe when I hear people say things like this. Love is far to complex to be reduced to "a bunch of chemicals for breeding." Look at the hundreds of Grecian tombs written on it, the spoils of the Elizabethan age, etc. How can one Word spawn so many miniature universes if it is simply a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction, in my eyes, at most, is but the instigator of some events as Love or Passion.

Re: Being in Love
Another thing, I think a lot of people in this thread have confused Infatuation, Passion, Love, and Liking because it is absolutely impossible to "love" beer in any sense of the word. The highest Love in human beings is Lesbian relationship, the love of people, followed by Heterosexual relationships, then by the love of art and literature, then, finally, by the love of feelings and things.
I believe that the Love experiences shared by females and even a female and a feminine man are sacred regions of the human experience. It can only be attained between the highest states of consciousness: the feminine states, for it is out of this state, even though a vast proportion of philosophers were male- it is still their feminine side that created, that all art and philosophy is engendered. Have you ever written a poem or made a work of art? The feeling one gets, towards his work, is one of intense love and pride- it is a seal of Parturition, it is the same feeling that mothers feel towards their children. It is the activity of the female soul.

Dude the specifics of "what love is" are that important to this thread. I'm pretty sure people know enough about love to comprehend what I'm saying.

It is impossible to love everyone and everything, and to even think it is retarded
Would you love someone who raped your mother? Do you love men who kidnap, rape and kill small childeren? Would you love a man who would stab you for $5? Do you love Hitler?
Do you love the gods of old? Does Jesus love the old gods? If so wouldn't he be punished for loving false idols?

It's understanding that helps to forgive and love these people.
People who do fucked up things most likely have inner turmoil. They suffer or have suffered. They have inner demons that they don't know how to deal with. They need to be shown love to heal the wounds that are the root cause of their "bad deeds".
Or they ave been taught what life is by a parental figure whose model of life is diagreeable. If someone was taught from birth that to stab people was okay, that person will unquestionably believe that. Children believe what they are told. Is that their fault?
If you hate someone who does bad deeds it's because you don't know them. If you completely knew what they'd been through and what it was like to be them, you'd be filled with compassion and love.
