Default Leaving soon, breaking up.

Me: Senior in high school, leaving for college in August, probably.

Her (Amy): Junior, crazy attached to me. It's kind of scary. But she's cute.

So we've been going out for about a year and a half, and she keeps trying to talk about doing a long-distance relationship. I vetoed that, but I'm thinking now that it might just be better to break up now, give her the summer to find a new boyfriend.

See, she has real self-esteem issues. Doesn't think she can bag any guy just because she's got a little chub on her. Not too fat, mind you. We're talkin' maybe 140-150 and 5'8 or 9. Anyway, its mostly in the right places, so it's ok.

Now, you guys might think I'm a creep for this, but I've been talking to another girl (Sarah) for about 2-3 years, who lives near where I'm going to college. She knows I like her, and I know she likes me. Amy knows about this visit and about my feelings for Sarah, and is not pleased. She doesn't want it going down, but it's not really a daily issue. I like Sarah more than Amy (and yes, I have seen her and spoken to her in real life, she's pretty awesome. smart, funny, really cute.)

Other than that, everything is going great with both girls. No real problems, I just want to get this out of the way before it asplodes, but i also don't want Amy going away hating me too much. I'd like us to remain friends, if possible. If not, well, hey. Shit happens.

So basically, my plan is to (after finals, so she doesn't fuck them up because of stress) break up with her. It's partly for her benefit, since I really do believe she needs to find somebody new, start going to parties, etc, all of which are things she won't do while she can easily fall back on me to hang out with. However, as i said, i have the ulterior motive of clearing things up for Sarah's visit.

Any thoughts, advice, etc?

Sounds solid. Better sooner than later and there's nothing wrong with having somebody in mind already. It's for both of your benefit.

you have a pretty good plan, I mean, I don't know what else to help you about.
I'll say though, if you've been with her that long and she seems crazy attached,I don't think a friendship will happen.
She'll always want more, you'll see the same things happening as when you dated...
It just wont work.
