Ok, I gave a mod negative reputation because he/she was rep whoring("give me +rep" was along what he posted). Said mod goes and finds a random post of mine and gives me negative rep, saying something along the lines of "bitch don't give me negative rep because my posts are better than yours".

Now, call me crazy, but shouldn't mods be above such retarded and dumbass childish behavior?

The problem with non-anonymous negative rep is that giving somebody negative rep legitimately will practically always result in the recipient down-repping you back because they get pissy at you.

I understand that. My problem is that it's a mod that's being retarded with it. That's what I don't get. I expect a few regulars to do dumb shit like this. They have done dumb shit like this. I just would have thought that mods would be above both rep whoring and abusing the rep system.

I do like giving out positive reputation and some of the commetns I've had from posters have been really nice. :)

But then at the same time it's just another way for posters to insult moderators. I've had someone neg rep me with a comment, then email me with the exact same comment.

I probably neg rep'd sybil too, but this isn't the "sybil sucks" party; that's not till Thursday. Some people are petty. There's nothing to be done about that, unless the person matures.

I actually have positive rep that says it should be negative, but that they don't want retribution. It made me smile.

I feel that as we are meant to be responsible people on this forum, and more importantly, we're meant to be working together after a fashion, we really shouldnt negative rep each other.

I also feel that moderators shouldnt give other moderators infractions.

We all have our problems with each other, but what totse really does not need is for us to air them where your regular poster can read and see all the gory details.

If a mod does something like that you don't approve of why not let them know via rep, it's really no different than an email or instant message. It's not like anyone else can read what was said.

I agree with piratejoe in a sense that reputation means nothing, but the comments are still somewhat unpleasant at times.

I still feel that moderators shouldnt give each other negative reputation, for the simple fact that it's..quite offensive, is that the word I'm trying for? when an ally turns against you.
And that in turn causes trouble. I fear an ultimate split, one group of mods VS another, and that would be scaaaaaaary!
