Down tempo, Chillout!
Over the past month I've discovered the wonderful sub gen of Chill out, I guess it spurred from my wonder if there was anything out there remotely as relaxing as 'At the river'.
Good old Last.fm
Came across a few new groups that are just so great to relax back and smoke up to.
Noteworthy being;
Air
Zero 7
Banco De Gaia
Zero 7 - Simple things, has not missed an hour on my playlists, just a fantastic record!
Anyone else a fan? Got some recommendations?

Re: Down tempo, Chillout!
Massive Attack's about as far as I delved into the genre (late massive attack, songs like Angel and the 100th Window album), so I'll check your list out.

I'm really into Boards of Canada lately. Especially the EP In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country. I think it's the best thing they've done.

Re: Down tempo, Chillout!
Ok seriously if you want good downtempo/chillout then you have to listen to psychill or ambient music
Im not saying the artists mentioned are bad (well they do suck actually) but once you listen to some better stuff you will realise this

Re: Down tempo, Chillout!
How chilled?
Enigma
Enya?
geoffrey oryema
Vangellis
Sigur ros
palestrina
some songs you might like:
doot doot (freur)
Theme from southern comfort (ry cooder)
Asleep from day (Chemical brothers)
Bungalow zen (Gabriel Yared)
Also you might like the KLF chillout album. It's a little weird but damn does it take you somewhere far away.
Here is an exerpt:

Re: Down tempo, Chillout!
There is NOTHING as relaxing as At The River.
Some come close, but nothing equates to it.
Boards of Canada and Massive Attack are good.
