With the few threads we've had on poppies lately, it got me thinking. Instead of ravaging medicine cabinets for hydrocodone like a fiend, why not just make my own drugs?

I live in the suburbs, so a grow area and supplies are not a problem.

Obtaining seeds would not be a problem, correct? They would be at a garden supply store. If not I could order them.

Then plant accordingly? Is it too late in the year? Would I be able to scrape the pods by the end of summer?

it's really pointless unless you plan on cultivating an entire crop of them.

you're going to require so many pods for one small dose, and you and all your little bratty friends will wind up slitting eachother's throats for that, so just save yourself the trouble and buy real drugs/make tea outta the seeds.

I could plant a whole field, provided I had enough seeds. How many pods are we talking? What experience do you have with opium cultivation?

I grew maybe 100 grams a while back and yielded jack shit. I did everything right, it wasn't that, I got the number of pods I was expected to, it's just there isn't a lot of opium within those pods to be extracted.

Growing a field is not very reasonable, especially for someone without any experience.

Sorry to shoot down your dreams here, next time just aim a little lower. An easier means of getting high all summer would be to rob a local liquor store for cash and fifths, between the drugs bought with the money and the alcohol, you won't ever think about slaving over some poppies again.

You can either plant in autumn and hope most of them last the thaw, or plant in early spring next year, which can be more difficult to do. I prefer to plant in autumn as they get a good start before the ground freezes, meaning the poppies are ready much earlier .
