So recently, I've seen alot of new posts from satans handicapped helper, no wArning, harlequin senior, and other people who've made it known they have many accounts.

As such, I've infracted them, for having multiple accounts.

Then apparently some of these people have gone bitching to zok, to get this reversed? This is just what one such poster said, and I'm sure it made me sound like a total bad guy.
Why couldnt they bitch at me if they had a problem? My email is very clear.

Since they've complained, or state that they've complained to a supermod, would this imply that they more want to get me de-modded than want the infraction reversed?

If I've fucked up, as I have many times I'm sure, I'd have no problem appologising or reversing infractions..if the infraction was given out wrongly.


I'm sorry. I'm very confused, as usual. But I thought that if a poster has multiple accounts they should be infracted?

Or is this a case of if a poster breaks every rule and then whines about it enough it will get un-infracted?

Yes I know for sure, he has made a point of mentioning several times.

So I've caused all this trouble, and pissed off a member because I wasnt *sure* if he had multiple accounts.

All of this could have been prevented if I wasnt retarded. And if I could have checked IPs.

As it is, I now have to appologise to this poster who's a fucking dick anyway, reverse the infraction, and totaly suck it up.

SSH has mutiple accounts but he only uses one at a time (normally) and you infracted via Zok's forum.

Yep if you check SSH's profile you infracted for the 'lol' thread. Which is probably why zok was narked (and most mods would have been). It also didn't help that by all normal standards the infraction wasn't called for.

Remember I did tell you that personally I'd only do it if they were using a multi-account to spam or evade a ban? Well thats pretty much the 'rule'.

Lot of posters have multi accounts ( I have at least 4). But i only ever use this one or i tell S&A when I'm going to use another if i need to protect myself.

I've also made clear that I have no problem with any member of S&A doing the same if they need to be really sure that what they say won't come back to haunt them .

I would have no problem if you infracted someone for posting goatse or whatever thousands of times on GPP. Infact, I could do with the help..

Yeah if you see someone commiting a serious offence then personally I'd go for it and infract them. As you know , I leave a message for the forum mod.

BUT it needs to be a really self evident offence like the commercial spam I infracted for on your forum the other day and the intent is to infract for each single offence so the auto ban kicks in.

But as zok said the other day, that is also fraught with danger. You must be sure your crusade is justified. Someone page stretching in every forum, posting kiddy porn threads everywhere, money scam stuff, that kinda thing.

It also depends a bit on the time of day. For many forums I can be fairly sure that my early morning stagger through the forums is at a time when all american mods are a bed.

Heh, yep I think that Meta tends to get on SG at about 2-3am in my time, so I try to hold out till he shows up.



Anyway I think I've learnt my lesson now. :(

Yoyo, I think the error you made is like one I made. I did a search of this spammer and wanted to infract all his posts since they were of another account he made.

And when I did the search I forgot to limit to SG and so I got results from all forums he posted in, and I went down the list.

In your case you went to the profile and infracted a thread from there, but that thread was in Zok's forum.

That's how you did it, I think.

And there is nothing wrong, per se, in having other accounts. As the FAQ says, it's when more than one is used that the infraction comes in - or in the case of ban evasion.

It's the ban evasion that's the notable one. Whilst someone might have 2 accounts, if they're a good poster on both it's worth overlooking, IMHO.

How many examples of that are there though?

A user has multiple accounts for a reason, and that reason is almost always because they're dumb. If someone is using multiple accounts, I think they should always get an infraction.

I could understand a poster having say 2 accounts, if they wanted the oppinion from a certain forum but didnt want people who might know them in real life on totse to know it was them.

But SSH/ect has no reason to do this, considering these posters are using the same accounts at the same time.
Which is what confuses me..
