Beach Adventures
I love exploring local beaches, and forest preserves..I wish everyday was nice enough(and not filled with work..uhhg) to just go out on an adventure.
what's one of the best places you have explored?

Re: Beach Adventures
It's great fun cruising around on a sailboat, finding good anchorages and snorkeling or taking the dinghy up to the local beaches. I've done this all my life in Florida, Belize, St. Lucia, Abaco Islands of the Bahamas and the BVIs. The yachty bum lifestyle is great. My parents actually sailed over to the States from Australia on a 36' steel ketch taking route through the Indian Ocean, around South Africa and across the Atlantic. They have many pictures of their encounters with local "tribes" that have never seen white people before and took it as somewhat of a big deal -apparently they were very friendly. This was back in the early to mid 80's and the trip took them 2 years at sea. Now I'm in college and hoping to complete to journey with my dad through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific back to Oz on the same boat. They only didn't complete it because my sister and I were born here in America and they decided to stay.
Sorry for the life story, beaches are a thrill a minute though.

Re: Beach Adventures
that's actually very interesting, I've never been sailing (only whitewater rafting and canoeing) I would love to just get to laze around and cruise on vast bodies of water. That's my idea of relaxing fun.

Re: Beach Adventures
Well, that was going to happen at some point...hehe.
Anyways, we have friends who live on a little inlet up in maine that's awesome to kayak around. Personally my favorite part of exploring the coast is finding animals, and up there it's awesome. I kayaked to the part where the land pinches the water off to about 20' wide and the rocks make little rapids everytime the tide turns, it was awesome. Lifting up some of those rocks at low tide looked like a coral reef, with green and red crabs all over the place, tons of anenomes, and about a billion different colors of sponges. It's weird to see that in maine of all places, where the water's like 60 degrees. Even starfish.

Re: Beach Adventures
The nearest beach around me is 8-10 hours away from me.

well that makes me feel weird...haha, Yes that's me in the red,the other girl is my friend jessie, she's my adventure partner, thanks for being a creep..haha
I will say that the midwest can be interesting if you know the right places to explore, but there are so many other states and countries I hope I will be able to see in my life. This upcoming summer I plan to save all my money for gas so I can drive to surrounding states and see what they have to offer.

which is highly unlikely since it's supposed to be severe weather all night tonight.
but I guess thunderstorms can be pretty.
except I'm not in the mood to be inside....
