Flipped my car...
So i flipped my Camaro. There goes my dream of an LS1...
Pics:
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...albumId=704130
Thought some guy was in my lane when i was rounding a curve, braked, they locked up, went off the road, front right caught, dug in, and the car flipped forwards, then rolled 3 times, then slid into the ditch. Surprisingly, i didn't even crack the glass until the tow-man flipped the car back over. Also surprising, minor injuries all around.
Sucks because i basically lost 5k doing that, and now my insurance is $400 every six months (90 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat)
Good news though. Found a 90 Stealth yesterday that needs a shit load of engine work but has a beautiful body and custom paint that i can get for about $500. I'll have to see about that one shortly.

Also, you are going to blow the transfer case on that Stealth. I give it 2 months after you fix it.

Re: Flipped my car...
Why would i blow the case?
(wasn't even aware it was AWD)

Re: Flipped my car...
Hmmm, I forgot not all Stealths were AWD. They break because they are pieces of shit that can stand a 300 hp engine.
What would the non-AWD ones be, FF?

Re: Flipped my car...
yea, but i think only the 4cyl ones were fwd. For some reason i was thinking only the TT models were awd, but now that i think about it it was all the 6cyl ones in the first gen for the most part. Still, i like the cars and if the case is the piece of shit you say it is, i'll just replace it, hopefully with something aftermarket that can hold it's own after i put a turbo on it.

Re: Flipped my car...
I asked SephirothAngelus about the transfer case thing once and she pointed me in the direction of a 10 grand case. I think TKO makes it.
Neat car nonetheless.

Sucks, dude. Good luck with the Stealth. You'll know if it's AWD by the twin hairdryers under the hood .
[4cyl? The Stealths are all V6s, bro.]

yea, the 4cyl thing was a misread on my part. i saw something on a site about a SOHC engine and i just automatically assumed it was a 4cyl.
Not an awd though, because it's badged as an ES and there definitely aren't any turbos under the hood. might be for the better, that four wheel steering that came with it just sounded like one more thing to break.
I wonder though, was the tunable exhaust and the active aerodynamics and the ECS only on the R/T turbo or were they available on other models? The exhaust and the aerodynamics i dont care about that much, but i would love to have the ECS.

Re: Flipped my car...
Theta has it right... all V6's.
In the USA, only the twin turbo (Stealth RT/TT or 3000GT VR-4) has all wheel drive. The non turbo models are FF.
The car didn't come out until 1991 in the USA.
In Europe/Japan, all the 3000GT's were AWD, even the non-turbo ones.
The transfer case is shitty on the 1991, and got better in 1993 with the cast iron transfercase housing (was aluminum before), then again in 1994 with the addition of the 6 speed.
The 5 speed transfercase can hold into the 10's (700HP, 600tq +?), as proven by AdamVR4 on www.3si.org, although I believe he's running a 25 spline (they also had an 18 spline, which will probably be on your 1991 Stealth. You're not going to run 10's are you?) He also has a transfercase bracket, like a cage that holds pressure in on it.
There was a prototype billet transfercase a few months back. I haven't been keeping up with the AWD 3000GT stuff because mine is front wheel drive, and I've been busy. So I can't tell you where to find one.
The trick to not blowing up your 5 speed transfercase is to always make sure that it has enough/good oil in it, and to only launch your car by slipping the clutch. Dropping the clutch = dead transfercase. DO NOT SHOCK THE DRIVETRAIN. That's the most important thing with ANY car, but especially one where the xfer case shatters.
If your car is FWD, the stock transmission will hold up to anything you can throw at it unless you add forced induction or spray nitrous while launching. The weak point is the stock differential. It can be greatly strengthened and improved with a locker ($200 + install), ask them to weld the diff pin so that it doesn't come out.
If you don't shock the F5M33 tranny in the non turbo 3000, and it has a differential, it can hold like 400-500hp at the wheels. 2nd gear is usually what goes, although it lasted Import Power Online an entire drag racing season running 11's without breaking 2nd.
I trapped 119MPH in the 1/4, and my "unbreakable" Kormex Limited Slip differential ($765) broke before my gears did.
I got a refund, and should be trapping around 125MPH this year on the stock FWD 5 speed, with a quaife differential.
So yeah, don't shock the drivetrain and you'll be fine, FWD or AWD. I hope this kind of cleared up some questions about the tranny's, if you have other questions about 3000's or Stealths feel free to ask.

Reason: I forgot that there's no Stealths outside USA and Canada, LOL

You're lucky it's an ES and not a base model, the base has the SOHC motor with only 164HP, whereas the DOHC has the 200HP. I don't care what they say, it's not 222, or 216, it's like 205... they overestimated.
http://www.3si.org/wiki/index.php/Wh.../ES/RT/RTTT%3F
only the Stealth RT/TT had ECS, so you won't have it.
Be glad though, since many people agree the car handles better in TOUR mode than SPORT mode, and many cars with ECS no longer have functioning ECS systems. It's better to not even have it, your car should handle better. Cool concept, but not the best implementation.
The all wheel steering is only available on the all wheel drive models. The stealth RT/TT was not made in 1995, at all. Any Stealth RT/TT's from 1995 are leftover from 1994, and will have AWS. 1996 Stealth RT/TT's do not have all wheel steering.
I read that the 1991's have a cast crank and a 2 bolt main. The 2 bolt main is a constant for all years that are non turbo, but the older ones got a forged crank. Just as an FYI.
