Re: Gammon Steak
I'd go on a protein frenzy and serve it with boiled eggs, strips of lean bacon, and cheese. (cheese melted ontop of bacon).
I think it would be nice with a good side salad with some decent sauces on the side, ie picallily, branston piccle, ect.
nyam nyam nyam..

Re: Gammon Steak
Gammon steak HAS to be served with pineapple, that's just a law (well, in this house anyway!). Failing that, I can see it tasting quite nice with some sort of fruit conserve, or maybe chutney or something?
You should try cooking it in pineapple juice... *drools*

I didn't even know what it was. Google is my friend.
Just to clarify.... Gammon Steak is basically an un-cured steak from the leg (ham)?

Re: Gammon Steak
It's like a giant slab of non salty bacon. Without the rind (if you get the nice stuff).
Sometimes it has one big long line of fat along the side which is dangerously unhealthy yet dangerously delicious.
When I cook them at work we're meant to serve them with onions, which is foul in my oppinion, but I tend to slightly grill some pineapple to serve on top of them.
I'm still not sure if serving pineapple with gammon is good or disgusting.

Re: Gammon Steak
Definitely with pineapple rings on top. If you don't have pineapple rings, I guess a fried egg is acceptable. This should obviously be served with really fat chips and mushy peas.

Re: Gammon Steak
Man gammon sucks it's leathery and chewy as shit and so salty , and just tastes like pig way too much. Bacon is arrrright but gammon takes it toooo far. Occasionally if you can taste that smokey kind of flavour above the tangy saltiness I find it fairly enjoyable, I've had maybe two gammon steaks that actually tasted of something other than iron/salt.
All you need is cow. And deer, and lambs. And chickens.

Why would you serve bacon with a cut of bacon steak? Lol...
I would probably pick a sweet vegetable to serve it with, even grill the gammon with something sweet like pineapple. Depends on your preference, and the only way I would serve it with egg is with a fried egg on top of the steak. Then take your sweet vegetable, either a potato or some squash and serve. That's it.
