I'm pretty sure the new arrival 'duckwarriOr' is infact the sock puppet account of -SpectraL (damn I hate being right about people).

Anyway he got an infraction for everytime he used the account and i've told him that if he truly isn't -Spectral then he needs to email the admins (who'll, I guess check, IP's etc).

I think you're just stirring up trouble. When you ban a quality troll, they come back angry and looking to create havok. I'm not sure that some negative rep is worth going to war over.

I'll use panzerfaust's recent ban as an example. He is a troll, straight up. He posted a picture of zok in HB and I edited it out and infracted. zok followed up with a ban, as is fitting and understandable. panzer grew angry and began planning a large scale attack on totse until I suggested that talking to zok about it could help and that his actions may have been rude.

There are better options than all out war, but their minds don't go to these options.

That's not really that big of a deal to me, the death threats were just a little much for my tastes.

Even if Jeff or the Super-mods decide i went over the line for once (and they may well do) and reverse all the decisions it doesn't matter because Spectral and his little spammy chums will have been reminded that sometimes mods can play nasty (ie infract for each single offence).

To use your own example against you: Panzerfaust came on S&A and spammed very much a lot. He got warned and ignored it. So I slapped him down and he came back with all the usual stuff like page stretching and the highly original 'jackketch is a FAG' multi thread spam. So he got slapped again. He attacked more and I deleted it. This went on and on. In the end his mother either remembered to refill his Ritalin 'script or he decided to go and spam forums where he knew the mods were scared to do any work or were of a more tree-hugging nature.

Similar happen with Huggy Bear, but he wised up and started to post some really good stuff. If my aged brain worked better I could give you a lot more examples.

I think that jack made the right call, that's definitely another SpectraL account. I was going to infract it myself. There's no point in allowing multiple accounts if somebody's going to use them to sidestep a ban that was given for a reason, especially if that account is one that impersonates another poster (it wasn't Duckwarri0r, it was DuckwarriOr, capital "o" instead of a zero and just recently registered).

I've let signing rep under a false name slide for the most part, apart from one instance where it was widespread and malicious, and even then it was a group decision (the whole m0ckturtle thing). When it's repeated and hurtful I think it should be infracted, but not for isolated incidents.

As much as you hate B&M you are kinda duty bound as a mod, IMO, to check it daily cos thats where the legitimate criticism of you may be found (along with all the dross). This is especially true for SG mods.

I used to be of the same attitude. However, deleting 200 posts a night for a month gets old real quick - especially if you multiply it against the number of idiots you've pissed off.

That's not to say I've given up and let people just do what they want. I simply pick my battles in a more choosy fashion. I still will lock down bullshit and infract spammers [I too, will infract every post of a person's second - or more - account when evading a ban]. But I am a lot more lenient about what I allow to stay.

I was more refering to if someone made an account with a name like y0y0bek, or YoyobeK or something.

to be honest, I never really paid much attention to how duckwarrior and the like spell their names or what numbers/punctuations they might have.
I'm going to have to be very carefull and check profiles to make sure that I'm infracting the right person!

Well I'm thinking that most of this stems from his posting of death threats to a number of mods under another user's name. Why he did this? I'm guessing it's because at the time, there was no way of knowing who posted it.

I guess anger or bordom lend to stupid decisions.
