Default Birth control and bleeding

A question for the females of totse (or the guys who have girlfriends) on the pill...

When you first started taking it, did you have problems with every day bleeding?

I've been on it for about 3 weeks now, when I first got it my doctor told me to come back in about 2 and a half months, just before the amount he gave me ran out. I have an appointment for next month though, because I've been bleeding the WHOLE DAMN TIME I've been taking them!! I know that one of the (common?) side effects is irregular bleeding, but I figured that would mean spotting every once in a while. I had my period a few weeks ago (started on the sunday of my period), and afterwards the bleeding died down, but never completely stopped. It's not a constant flow, but there hasn't been a single day I haven't had to wear a panty liner. It's kind of getting in the way of my sex life, which sort of defeats the purpose of being on the pill in the first place. I'm also noticing other side effects that I really hope will die down after the first few months. This pill seems to be wreaking havoc on my body. I don't know if this is typical, or if my body just isn't meant for birth control.

So until I get to the doctor and find out if this is normal, any similar experiences/stories with hopeful endings?

What kind of bleeding is it?
Heavy bleeding or just spotting?
Having you been taking your pill everyday? Roughly around the same time?
When I first started taking the pill I had irregular periods for the first two months or so.
Most of it was just constant spotting.
It's most likely your body starting to adjust to taking the pill.
But yeah, see you Gp. Probably the bestthing to do.

I'm having a similiar problem. I've been on the same pill for almost a year, but I was having irregular periods so I took a month off (idiot move on my part). Once I started up on the pill again last month I starting a period, for lack of a better name, two weeks into the package. I figured it was just spotting, or my body adjusting to the pill or whatever, so I just ignored it. It slowed down at times just like you said, but never totally stopped. It's been three weeks of non-stop 'period.' I'm just waiting until after the placebo week to see if things straighten themselves out... and after that I guess I'll go see the gyno and switch brands.

Sorry my experience doesn't really help you, nor does it have a happy ending as of yet.

Perhaps just try and get in to see your doc as soon as possible, and in the meantime sit tight and don't wwear white pants.

oc: We're kind of short on doctors in Canada, and as my family's is a very good one... he has a FULL practice and appointments take a while. Kind of sucks, but it's the best I can get, since it's not really urgent. And I can't talk to him on the phone either, just receptionists.

I've been taking the pill every day at the same time (within a half hour window). The second day I forgot and took it 3 hours late, but other than that I've been really routine.

It's not heavy, it's spotting... just enough to drive me insane.

And that's alright Silver, it helps just to hear about somebody in the same type of predicament. Hope everything works out for you. :)

hmmmm i've never had that happen and i've been on it for about 2 years now. once when i skipped my period with it i ended up getting payback in threefold in the form of an almost month-long period, but that was because it was a low dose pill and i'd only been on it for a few weeks. so that's not really the same as what you're describing.
i'd say it's just the wrong pill for you or maybe the wrong form of birth control alltogether. that's definitely not supposed to happen but i can't really tell you why it IS or what might fix it. so i guess my response is the same, definitely get to a doctor sometime soon so you can get back in the sack. good luck!
