Sorry for the stupid question, but I basically have no chemistry knowledge. I know, I know "Read before you start" and I have. The problem is, I can only learn enough to fuck something up by reading. I'm a hands-on type of person.

That being said, is there anything I may find in my house that I could substitute for NaOH in a DMT extraction? I'll be doing a standard a/b, using distilled vinegar for my acid (I know, HCl is better, but I'm poor.) I'll buy the lye if I NaOH if I have to, but if there would be something common that could be substituted, I'd love to hear about it.

You can make your own lie with bacon fat but you can research it you lazy bitch...or just buy NaOH: cheap easy to get and good for dmt extraction's

Just get the NaOH. And HCl is much better, and if you have distilled acetic acid, you are damn sure wasting it if you use it on this.

What you SHOULD do, is take that acetic, add it to sodium bicarbonate, evaporate, and then distill it with sulfuric acid to yield damn near anhydrous acetic acid. THEN one could use that to acetylate morphine.

It's really easy as fuck, and a still kit is a MUST, so if you have one, and like opiates, and have access to morphine, go with that. I would be more than happy to help you out over msn or email if you like.

But again, go with the NaOH.

And I didn't flame you because I like your posts, from what I can remember, AND you've done your own research for the most part, and are coming here with a legitimate question.

So I really shouldn't bother with the vinegar? i'm just kind of doing a trial run here to get some experience, so I don't want to have to put out more money than I have to.

Incidentally, by reading your post, I presume you read recipies for a/b, rather than information on a/b. In short, any base strong enough to grab the acid will work.

Ammonia and baking soda come to mind. Not baking powder, which is usually a mix of crap, but sodium bicarbonate USB.

...or - since you mention poverty - you could make your own crude NaOH through aqueous extraction from wood ash, or something.

I, umm... presume your distilled vinegar is about 5%, and comes from the store, or did you distill it yourself?
