Happy thread
I've had a bad cold these two days and this morning my daughter has brought me tissues, helped me fold towels, dried dishes and brought me juice to "Make my tummy better." She wanted to bake me a cake, but I talked her out of that one.:P
I thought I'd make a nice thread because Outcast is right...We don't have enough of them.

Re: Happy thread
My father's girlfriend was feeling low and thinking about quitting her job. I don't know her very well and don't put much effort into getting to know her better, so as a surprise I got her a special piece of chocolate and a book about local parks and hiking trails; she has a passion for landscaping and the outdoors, even though she doesn't indulge it anymore.
I'd like to think that brightened her day at least a bit. :)
Yesterday, I had an interesting day and a lovely woman brought a ray of sunshine into it.

Happy happy happy. Here I sit, alone on a tuesday, listening to music I've listened to thousands of times. But it is sunny. I think I shall go for a walk.

Lawdy be ketch! because its designed for cooking you don't use a whole bottle for every dish or meal. I have a bottle in my cupboard thats been open since christmas if that was a drinkable sherry or wine it would most likley taste shite by now.
Professional chefs I agree don't use them often because their turnover is so much higher and the stuff never gets the chance to go off so they use cheap table plonk instead.

Well I just found out I'm visiting my sister in late June!! That's right, I'm going on vacation to LA while my husband and daughter stay home. I think it's going to be awesome...My sister and I never get to hang out alone. My husband is always there and they HATE each other, so it's always uncomfortable.:(

Re: Happy thread
Yesterday I got out of work to take a little walk to see my GP. I came out with a script for a course of anti-depressants and a 4 week sick line!
A month off work, full pay, due to "Stress related illness"
This makes me happy!
Also, when I have to go back to work after my illness, I am there for little over a week before I have two weeks holidays.
There's nothing better than being paid for sitting on your ass in front of the computer.

Re: Happy thread
A few words about happiness--it is a choice, as is everything else in life. We alone are reponsible for our reality, and whether we have a "good" day or not is not about what happens to us, but about how we feel about what happens.
If you require anything--whether it be sex, drugs, money, power, pain, square dancing, shopping, whatever-- in order to be happy, you are addicted to it. Most people agree that addiction is not a desireable condition to be in.
This is also known as being outer-directed. When you can be happy just to BE, you are inner-directed, and a large step closer to full enlightenment than most.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I really hate you!
Now I cant be happy without there being some hidden motive? That the happiness isnt genuine..? That I should be worried when I'm happy because it means I'm addicted to something?
I'm confused.

Some people have a hard time believing that anybody is honestly happy or contented. It must be a terrible thing to be that lost in depression.

Re: Happy thread
Happiness is a slippery fish
I had depression when I was younger, dysthemia and double depression to be more accurate. Double depression is when manic depression combines with dysthemia for the worst fucking feeling on the planet. I'm coming out of it now. Happiness is about finding centre in an ever changing sea of feelings. Like armsmerchant said its about being happy just by being, sex, drugs, money, all those are nice things but pail in comparison to true happiness. So I suggest meditation, analysis, and pursue understanding. When things make sense they get happier.

I haven't seen my sister in almost 2 years.:( She lives so far away and airline tickets are so expensive! I had to pay almost $500 just for ONE! I don't care, though...I need this vacation and anyway, my husband just got the first half of his signing bonus, so I don't feel bad spending a little money.:P
I'm only visiting for 5 days.
