Pets
I know pets belong in another forum, but this is about the affection (no sex!) we have toward them, and I think it will be better here.
http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/2c/02/f26eb4910f30.jpg
This is my new kitten. Her name is crunch. I'll be bring her home in two weeks.
I've been feeling... lonely, of late. I have a girlfriend (kind of) and enough friends, I am certainly not a lonely person, but when I sit around late at night, or when I get home from work or school, I come home and I find myself very lonely when someone isn't at home waiting for me. I find that the longer I spend feeling this way, the more I want a pet. Any pet. I've finally given in to myself.
Do your pets make you feel better? Less lonely? When you have a bad day, or when you and your significant other are forced apart or when your broken up or lonely, does your pet help? If your soulmate hated your pet, and told you that you could pick between it and them, who would you pick?

Re: Pets
Chels gave me a fish, but he died.
I'd like to get a pet, but I wouldn't take care of it properly. I like animals; as such, I refuse to get one unless someone is willing to help me take proper care of it. It can be difficult to avoid getting a pet sometimes because I know people at the Humane Society and they're always offering me cool pets.
I would not want to be an irresponsible pet owner. Animals deserve to be treated well.

Re: Pets
We have 4 cats, 2 fish, and a gineau pig at home.
The gineau pig has the best attitude out of all of them. He calls out when I get home, squeaks when I talk to him, and generally has fun with the cats biting their tails as they walk past. He's pretty cool for a rodent.
One of the cats just loves everyone. He cuddles up to whoever sits still the longest, be it a 4 year old who sticks her fingers in his ears, or the 80 year old grandma that hates cats.
The other male cat grew up with our youngest daughter. He played this game as she was learning to walk where he stalked her while she was crawling, then as she stood up, he took her down like a lion. He also remembers things people did to him from months previously. And will pick that person out of a crowd and bite them.
The two female cats are just cats. They'll let you pat them, the'll sleep on the washing, but not too much more.
The fish are fish.
I guess the 2 male cats and the male gineau pig are my mates, cause they have definite personalities that can be funny or rough. I don't know that I'd choose them over my wife of 8 years or anything, but I'd miss a morning of work to take them to the vet if something was wrong.
Fair enough?

Re: Pets
YES!!!
I have 10 guinea pigs and they make me soo..soo happy. :)
They literally are like soul mates. It's got to the point where I can even understand them.. Which is easy considering they're usually saying 'feed me!' 'Play with me!' ect..
I've got other pets, african snails hamster gerbil mice, but they arent special like the piggies are.
I dont have any human friends, not in real life, anyway.. And I realised that that doesent actually bother me at all because the guinea pigs are better more loyal friends than I could ever hope for. Even if they suck at frisbee.

I have two cats and I love them very much, they really make me happy since they're always there to welcome me home and to give me company when I'm alone.

Its fine here (unless my co-mods think otherwise), we've had one or two such threads before. Although I admit most animal threads here are more concerned with bestiality.
Do try and keep it on the affection side please. If we digress into indepth discussions of which cat litter to use then I will move it.

Re: Pets
I need to get a pitbull. I love them to death and think they're the best possible pet. They'll fight to the death for you, are extremely affectionate, eat til they explode, are cute and deadly like a japanese samurai prostitute and can tear apart pretty much any other dog with ease.
I havent had a dog since my retriever died of a mysterious illness and havent had the time to get another dog. I expect to get one before the summer and will definately post pics on here.

Re: Pets
I've got a cat, and sometime he's cool to have around, affectionate enough and friendly, but that's only when he has what he wants. Otherwise it's just luring you to his leash (he goes out on a leash, yes) or to his food dish, or to let him out onto the porch. Lousy mooch. :p Cute as hell but most selfish cat I've ever had.

Re: Pets
I have 3 dogs.... they are all my babies and I absolutely adore them. They always make me feel better when I'm sad and taking them for walks means I have to leave the house everyday which is supposed to be good for me.
If my "soulmate" tried to make me choose between them and my dogs.... the dogs would win hands down. They really are like children to me.

I think I want one of them as a pet now. We'd be destined to be soulmates..

Re: Pets
Awwww I love my new puppy. Bernese Mountain Dog, she's such a sweety... if you sit on the ground she'll try and sit in your lap but she's like 55 pounds by now. She's such a dumbass it's hilarious... she runs headlong into everything, she just gets so excited.

I once heard doctors may suggest that depressed patients get a dog.
