Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.I've had a few emails from HB regulars complaining about it, and others have mentioned it in the forums. It only applies to smilies for some reason (thanks for pointing that out, Mandy), and it seems a little pointless. You can't exactly use smilies to spam and all it does is get in the way occasionally. Any chance it could be removed or the limit raised? Our emotes are important to us in HB. .

Does it stop people from posting more than four images in [img] tags? I thought the limit had been there since vB was set up (I've only noticed it with smilies), but it doesn't seem to stop people from posting a shitload of images in [img] tags. Maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, I'd be all for an image limit (though 4 is extreme), if it actually worked. It can be annoying when people post a dozen images in one post. But if all the limit does is stop people from posting 5 15x15 smilies, it seems kind of silly.

A lot of forums do need images, and I'm glad we have them, but I'm not sure that we NEED to be able to post 20 images at once. :p If I had that many images I needed to show people, I wouldn't really mind spreading it out over a few posts.

I think it's the wrong way round if anything. A limit on [img] tags might be a good idea, but one on smilies just seems silly. How d'you feel about a limit on [img] tags, maybe 8 per post or something, and removing the one on smilies?

If possible, of course, I don't know what you can do with vBulletin.

That would be the best idea, really. But like you said, who knows what Jeff can and can't/will and won't do. I don't know much about vB either. I know a few mods do, though.

I find it annoying that there's an actual text limit per post now.
I know this prevents people from the generic thread hi-jack of posting inane shit over and over again, but it's damn tiresome if you're trying to post a walkthrough guide or similar.

Well, if a regular in BB wants to put up a series of pictures depicting a photo-report on how to build a certain pyrotechnic device, he'd have to cut it up into little bits.

That's on example of justified img use.

Well, since I found out it only applied to smilies it's not been so important. Although it's a bit annoying sometimes not being able to post more than four of them; nobody ever spams with emoticons and the only thing I can see it really doing is occassionally getting in the way.
