| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Proxy Servers
Hey, Iv'e got a problem. My school is using a content-filter system called iprism, and it blocks pretty much everything.. unless you have an admin account, then you can get a bit more. a bit; still, things like torrify are still blocked. Where Iv'e managed to get through iprism, however, I get blocked by Websense. Tor doesn't work, I think the administrator has blocked it's ports. I need help you guys. Maybe a proxy webserver (that, yes is NOT blocked by iprism and websense combined), or something of the sorts. Yes, I'd try googling it, ect. ect., but everything I get that even freaking has the word proxy in it gets blocked. I'm looking for a redirectory website/server type of thing, that has a low profile, that doesn't get picked up and blocked, if there is such a thing. I've come across a few; but for the life of me I can't remember their url's.
Can anyone help me? any suggestions?
consider it a challenge
Thanks

Re: Proxy Servers
Set up your own proxy, and don't have the word proxy in it.
Consider THAT a challenge.

Re: Proxy Servers
thanks so much, I'll just go ahead and do that.
do'you mind telling me how? even a summary would be fine.. just an idea of what I should do.. like I said, I can hardly research anything w/ the word 'proxy' in it..
By the way, even if it IS a sort of n00bish question, I'm not asking you to go all out with your flaming skills.

Re: Proxy Servers
jebus_is_my_boyfriend99 wrote a tutorial on it ages ago.
http://www.totse.com/community/showt...ighlight=proxy
I've got no idea if it works or not.

Re: Proxy Servers
Hm... It looks like exactly what I need. I'll try it. Iv'e also found this :
http://archive.devx.com/dotnet/artic...01-2/cpwso.asp
but it talks about making an object using windows, and I've got a mac.
But what you found looks really good. All I need is a principle idea of how this works.
Thanks!

Re: Proxy Servers
I haven't seen that way of doing it before - I've got a dual 800mhz machine running a CGI proxy called Circumventor. It's stupidly easy to setup, just install three things and it works.
baloo's method is probably faster though as it is hosted on a proper webhost - running a server from home can be pretty slow cos broadband has a shitty upstream speed.

Re: Proxy Servers
My school uses iPrism as well. Read my thread for a guide on bypassing it.

Re: Proxy Servers
Alright, the whole web-based proxy server setup from Jebus worked.. I'm past anything... That's sweet; Iv'e always wanted to know about that, and now I see how it's done. I'd like to get into coding my own php scripts for it though...
Thanks you guys.
by the way, thanks also for your thread, Sythetic_Embrace. Iv'e already seen that sort of thing done here at my school, but w/ ccproxy and portable firefox. Last time I checked, portable firefox was only for windows? I could be wrong, but still, I'm happy with what Iv'e got running now.
