Default overstepping friend boundary?

this will be brief, presented in bulleted form for your amusement.

-gf's best friend's dad got in a motorcycle accident (he will be ok, he's just a bit banged up, thank god for helmets)

-I have met this friend and hung out a couple times

-I feel sorry for her and her family

-I want to either send flowers to the hospital or their house

-I'm afraid that by doing it, gf will get mad at me

-i wouldn't be able to keep it from her: 1.) because i don't know her friends address and she's the only one i could get it from and 2.) I don't wanna ask the friend, i would want it to be a surprise

help?

send the flowers, and if your girlfriend gets mad, try to reason with her, but if she isn't listening to reason than dump that dumb ho.

hmm, your girlfriend will probably take that as a crush unless you are very specific about it being for the family.
a lot of hospitals don't like flowers on the wards; risk of infection and all that. and if he's banged up or has any bad wounds, he'll want to stay away from things like flowers (my mum received flowers after an operation but was told to keep them out of her room for at least three weeks).

something like a fruit basket or gourment basket could be nicer and your girl would probably be less bothered by it. send it to the house though. go to the florist, ask if they do fruit/gourmet baskets, or if they'll gift wrap food you bring in and deliver it.
it's an increasinly popular gesture, and lots of bigger florists in the uk are becoming more accpeting of it(especially if you life in a very "ethnic" area).

can i ask, have you ever sent flowers to your girlfriend? if you haven't, and you send them to this family/girl, she is going to be less than impressed

Why don't you just say to her "we should get so and so's dad some flowers and a get well card."

No need to try and be sneaky about it.

It's a really nice thought to send flowers to your friend's family. But if you give your girlfriend flowers all the time, she might look at that as something personal, that you only get them for her and no one else (excepting deaths and the like). Whether she means to see it that way or not, she might, and it doesn't help that your friend is female. To be safe, you should probably say "We should get the family flowers."

I think i'll give it a try next time i talk to her.
