Default Shakespeare

As much as people hate Shakespeare, you have to give the man credit. That being said whats your favorite Shakespeare play, sonnet or other piece of writing. .. ?

i would have to say Macbeth. . . probably because of theme's . Second favorite would probably be hamlet. .

yours?

Smile Re: Shakespeare

I've personally loved Julius Caesar the most, followed probably by Othello. I like his trajedies much more than his romance stories. I've never got why so many people love Romeo and Juliet, but whatever.

I've studied Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing.
Both were pretty good but i prefered the former - it just seemed to have more of an interesting story line.

Same as yours, but the other way around.

I absolutely adored Hamlet when I first read it in English class. And studying the play only made me enjoy it even more. (As opposed to everything else you study in English - you don't ever want to set eyes on it again)

Newsflash, no they don't. Where did you get that idea from?
He's on practically every curriculum for a reason.

Personally, I think shakespeare is completely overrated. He was the rennaissance equivalent of Jackie Chan, and he was really popular then, so he remained popular, and now he's the god of a self-perpetuating cult of english teachers and literati. People don't like shakespeare because they like shakespeare, people like shakespeare because they're told they like shakespeare.

I don't like him because I'm told to. I like him because he was a genius. I agree most of his fame is because he was such an epic in his day but it doesn't make him any less worthy, that's like saying we should ignore Einstein because the clock has kept on ticking.

The majority of people in your English class will do shit in their exam. There's no logical reason to dislike him or his works because they're mostly still popular today, and far too many of them are still applicable to modern culture, he's not out-dated.

Easy--Hamlet.

Followed by Hamlet.

Then some of the sonnets, especially the one (I forget the number) which has "love is not love. . . ."
