Re: Do people actually give "mixtapes" with messages?
Your girlfriend is vapid, unoriginal and his shit taste in music.
Really underground people like me only listen to music by people with Artist names written in Futhark, Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, or Cro-Magnon cave paintings.

Not the straight people of the world. Usually the person who makes mixtapes with messages in it is a boring, boorish and vapid excuse for a human being.

Re: Do people actually give "mixtapes" with messages?
Yeah, but if it's really a girl/guy you would click with, they have no need too, because they already own most of the music you do.
The closest thing to a "mixtape" (which brings another point, why are they still called mix TAPES? They aren't tapes anymore, they are usually CDs....) I ever got, was the girl just telling me to download certain songs..
Which I did, and I actually liked them despite the fact it wasn't rap, rock, alternitive, ska, metal, etc... It was *gasp* country :(

Re: Do people actually give "mixtapes" with messages?
Posting in this thread after the hangover-edit, I'm just going to say that ALL the mixtapes I do for other people contain subliminal messages. Also, each and every one of them starts with that cover version of Rape Me.
Yeah.

Re: Do people actually give "mixtapes" with messages?
Vapid is a great word.
I don't. I put shit that means a lot to me on a cd and give it to someone. Like, if I like a song a lot, it has emotional value. So I dunno if that constitutes subliminal messaging. Or, sometimes I put on songs that remind me of the person. But really, in my past relationship, i've only made them so that I'd have something to listen to when she was driving.

Re: Do people actually give "mixtapes" with messages?
The closest thing I've ever done to a "Mix Tape" is gone to their house. Downloaded Limewire on their PC. Then, downloaded the music I like... Not for her, but for me, because I want to listen to MY music if I'm going to be at her place a lot.
If she found some songs that she liked from my downloads, then kudoes to her. Either way, I'll still like them.
...Anyway, why's this thread still alive?
Bean, you change your origional post to a different question on the same topic... if the thread isn't going to be closed...

My mix(CDs), when given to the opposite sex, ALWAYS mean something....no one ever really reads into it enough to see what I mean, though.
