I had an email today from a fellow mod regarding infractions and so I thought I'd post this so everyone knows the situation.

Regulars, some of you might not be aware that mods can hand out infractions on any forum and not just those they moderate. This can mean you may even get a auto-ban from a mod who doesn't mod or even frequent this forum.

If you get an infraction on this forum from a 'foreign' mod and you feel it was given out unjustly then you need to EMAIL me or my Co-Mods(LC, Mojo, P8b).

DO NOT spam up this forum with 'WTF did I get an infraction from so & so, they don't even fucking mod this fucking forum?" threads. Neither should you post such threads in the 'offending' mod's forum(s).

Email us and if we feel that the mod in question was wrong then we will ask him/her to consider reversing it.

BUT be warned, I personally (and I guess my co-mods too) would have to be pretty fucking sure the mod in question had taken leave of his senses before I'd demand he reverse his infraction.

'Foreign' Mods, Jeff gave you this power and personally i feel you have a duty to 'police' this forum as you would your own. I EXPECT YOU TO DO SO. Please do not hand out infractions for simple spam unless you are really familiar with the way this forum works. What you might class as spam on your forum may be justified comment here.

I will back any infraction you hand out as if it were my own and I will expect the same courtesy from you.

If you do feel the need to hand out an infraction here then please email me/us and tell me why., especially if it takes place during my night etc (I'm on GMT +1). Thanks.

I for one would find it fine if a mod gave a spamming idiot an infraction on my forum,a justified one..
But I'm not sure if the mods of another forum would appreciate me intefering.

As to Special American Processed Meat , the problem is that each mod/forum has its own definition (even down to which poster it is- regulars here get more rope than n00bs). Sometimes i get it wrong even y my own 'rules'- as with rocker recently.

Obviously 'Spam' in the strict commercial 'click here to increase your wealth/penis size sense earns an infraction and I doubt any mod's definition would be different.

Other than that, in regard to this forum all the regular foreign mods (yourself, euda, jvm, wires, demoiselle, mr happy, meta, kAtE, etc etc) know what is spam here, probably better than i do and so I'd say just go with what you think is right.

Not in HB, but it's a bit different there. Us mods in there are around for most of the day between us, and few other mods know what goes in the forum. It makes sense in S&A, though; I can't see myself needing to hand out infractions in here, but I would be confident in doing so if I ever did have to (one of few forums I would; I wouldn't dream of giving one in BLTC or something).

Moderators can give them out for bad behaviour. If you get ten infraction points, then you get a ten day ban.

Different types of bad behaviour are worth different amounts.
