I've been with my girlfriend for about 15 months now, and we're pretty close. However, in August or so, I'm going to have to go quite far to college.

I've already decided that I want us to break up. It's too far to see her more than once a month maybe, and, as much as I love her, I wouldn't want to marry her one day. She's a tad too closeminded for me, and she doesn't have much motivation. She also seems to have a dreadful fear of working hard to acquire an ability (laziness), while I relish the pain that one must endure to succeed. None of this has really had an effect on our relationship as of yet, but if she won't walk half a mile downhill in beautiful weather to my house to see me, I can only imagine what it would be like with me hundreds of miles away.

I want to be with her as long as possible, but she's having second thoughts. She thinks that maybe we should break up now. I think we should break up amiably about 2 weeks before I have to leave. I'm kind of confused too, but I'm weathered in the way of losing, so it won't shock me as much.

I'm prepared to lose, just not yet. I don't think she is at all. What should we do?
