'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
Personality CAN outweigh looks. I've received this standard romcom programming but never believed it, but in the past couple of days, someone who's aesthetically completely not my type has shown themselves to be such a brilliant person that I am actually seriously attracted to them now. I just thought I'd share that hard empirical evidence with you all. I am a girl. There is hope for you, ugly ned.
I know I'll lose a little bit of my soul for saying this, but I actually find this to be an extremely weird experience.
This happen to anyone else?

Yeah, there's no way that fat guy could ever have the wife (that used to be hot) in King of Queens.
But, I've met girls with boyfriends thinking Jesus.. he must either have one hell of a personality because he hasn't got much else.
I do have a few friends in that category, who are not what almost any girl would call physically attractive, but they're just super cool likable guys.

Attraction isn't a thing you get, it's created. By either hitting certain buttons (on luck or purpose, doesn't matter), or by looks alone if you're lucky.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
I had that happen once (I'm a guy). I was into this girl who wasn't anything I'd normally go for. But she was really upbeat and she thought all my jokes were hilarious (always a plus).
It might have just been desperation though, I was going through a slow period.

I experience this. Instead of looking at all the really hot girls, I look at some of the not so good looking girls, but still not fucking beats, and look at them and their personality.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
Welcome to the adult world!
Most relationships are based on all sorts of things apart from looks. I mean, looks are a factor (cough.. cough...TUBGIRL...cough), but personality generally overcomes looks pretty quickly.
I'm lucky - my wife is tall, blonde and has a wicked personality. Me - I rely on personality alone....

Sorry to be skeptical at the longevity of your relationship... but...
Well dern, I just am.
But good luck, though. Prove me wrong.

I'm shallow as fuck. But that's because I've given up on relationships. Fuck that shit.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
I went after a beautiful woman with a great personality.... And her and I have been together for quite awhile now. The only thing that is missing from our relationship is the feeling that we actually care about each other.... Because I know she doesn't care about me. And I really don't care about her. Although it has been over a year and a 1/2.
And trust me after 2 miscarriage's it really doesn't matter how you feel.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
It's easier to pretend to have a personality than pretend to look good. So if you are picking, go with looks, it'll last longer.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
Anybody who says that personality can't outweigh looks is lying, badly.
I've quite physically challenged ('disabled'), to the point of actually missing a few limbs. I used to think, "Looks play a huge part in a relationship, definitely."
But recently.. Only within like the last month, I've been in like 3 situations where a really beautiful lady had shown interest in me. (I've got a real good personality, I literally make up for what I'm missing with my heart.) I was way shocked - trust me, I'm no trophy boyfriend to stand next to.
Then, within the last couple weeks.. I met a girl who I really would've never looked at looks-wise, and she's really one of the sweetest people I've ever met; a true example of her personality outweighing her looks.
Usually the people who claim looks outweigh personality aren't really being IGNORANT, they're just speaking their mind. As I said, before this month/last few weeks I believed that, and now my opinion has changed drastically. Granted; the 3 girls/the girl I mentioned and myself are not hooking up/getting together, we're not meant for eachother, but I am 100% positive and believe with all my heart that these girls were interested/attracted to me SOLELY BECAUSE OF MY PERSONALITY and it was a true example of personality overriding looks.
Hopefully I've at least made a few people more hopeful/accepting with this post;
Peace and Love, always,

I call bullshit. Any intrest a woman shows in an ugly guy is out of pity alone.

*slams head against desk*
Attraction is a combination of personality, looks and status. All three play a significant role in one way or another. To single one out as most important is to be a fucking head-tard.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
I choose personality over looks...when we are alone.
I can not stand going out in public with an unattractive girl.
I never introduce my family to the ugly ones. By chance they do see us together, I say it is nothing serious, pretty much just friends.
I need at least a little of both.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
I suppose personality really does outweigh looks... I suppose I'm an example of the flip side of what everyone else is saying:
I've been told I'm an attractive person, and I honestly do consider myself pretty attractive. Yet I have never had a girlfriend. I guess I have a repulsive personality then.

Re: 'personality vs looks' bullshit not so bullshit apparantly
I think girls prefer personality since looks only acts as an initial reaction. I don't believe that initial reaction stays as much as we think it is.
