I have to give a 10-minute presentation tomorrow, and the professor wants me to give a "hacking 101" (his words) lesson. I'm just looking for a few suggestions that are quick and intriguing (or at least entertaining). The first one that came to mind is the old google hack that retrieves a list of insecure video cameras. After that, I'm drawing a blank. Please help

Maybe gettng somebodies hotmail account frozen by logging in with it and having the wrong password 15 times.

Heres some ideas:

1. If you’re on a network do a simple NetBIOS hack, explain the principles.
2. Demonstrate some basic port scanning and how one could use that to gain further access maybe hack a router or two.
3. Um I don't know Bobs you’re Uncle; chances are he is going to be disappointed when he finds out what real hacking is about, you have yourself in some hot water. Just do simple shit to impress people that people here would consider “script kiddie” you know read some of my threads if you need an example.

I would suggest a netBIOS hack of some kind, they're easy enough, or you could find a vulnerable program and just bring in a windows box and own it six ways to hell. Remember:

1.) Recon

2.) Scanning

3.) Gaining Access

4.) Maintaining Access

5.) Covering tracks.

If he wants hacking 101, just go through that. Put a vulnerable service on a computer you bring it (or that's there, for more effect), nmap it, crack it, load Bo2k on it or Sub7, wipe the logs and burn goatse on the screen or something.

Do EMAIL spoofing, it's simple, easy and can be quite useful/fun. (do it through telnet of course)

Just do a speach about securing your server by hacking into it, style of thing.
No need to go indeept and it will explain the concept of what you are trying to demonstrate, in a moral sort of way.
