| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

failure of communism in israeli kibbutz
for those that dont know kibbutzes are/were egalitarian communist communities. the oldest one has been around for quite a while, and its finally shutting down. why? communism failed. even in circumstances where the society itself is as egalitarian as it gets, communism still failed.
communism has failed on a large scale with dictators enforcing policies, and it has failed on a small scale with completely democratic policies. and trust me, if anyone could make communism work, it would be the israelis. jews have a legendary sense of community.
for all those who say "stalin, mao, pol pot, kim jong il" did communism wrong, heres an example of communism "done right" and it still fails.
what are the excuses from the left this time?

Re: failure of communism in israeli kibbutz
i love this. kids hear about communism from their school teachers and their daddies, and pretend to know a single thing about it. they equate everything from social anarchism to socialism to atheism to totalitarianism as communism.
hell, half of the kids here think nazi germany was communist, and have never heard of das capital.

Firstly, I refuse to believe anything on totse without a credible link. Secondly, you contradict yourself by saying it wasn't succesful but lasted for a long time which obviously means its suceeded to an extent.

Re: failure of communism in israeli kibbutz
It was formed at the very beginning of the 20th century, meaning it lasted a long time, even if they have failed. But, saying that, I've found no evidence that they have, only that there's been somewhat of a decline. But all societies go through that.
Also, they weren't communists. They were a socialist Zionist society. Not all socialists are communists.

Nazi germany was national socialist.
No, it wasn't communist, but it wasnt "right wing" in the sense that Reagan or Thatcher were right wing.
Personally I think the economic arrangments in nazi germany resemble the guilds of pre-industrial europe moreso then any modern system.

Re: failure of communism in israeli kibbutz
look it up, the kibbutz is called degania. it was a communal fucking farm, thats as textbook "communist" as it gets. it is being privatized because the citizens were dissatisfied with the arrangements of owning nothing (and "owning" everything). thats the thing thats ALWAYS been present in communism- dissatisfaction. and thats why it will always fail and has always failed.
this experiment only lasted as long as it did because of diehard dedication to ideals that ultimately proved unrealistic.
to the schoolboy who thinks he knows communism, its either 'das kapital' or 'the capital'. kidiot. i guarantee you i know more about socialist theory than you ever will you pork pie eating turd burglar.
