The story goes...my idiotstick of a father who thinks he knows everything about computers was deleting "Stuff the computer doesn't need" to free up "Gigabites so the computer runs faster" ended up deleting a whole bunch of shit.


When the dust settled we couldn't:Change our background(it's just blank), access user acounts, do system restores, installed things didn't get set in the registry so when the computer was reset they had to be installed again. So many things are fucked up it's rediculis(sp). He can't afford to buy another copy of XP and wont let me install a downloaded copy because he swears by the system updates you can only get with authentic copies. I know activeX is fucked but I've been googleing about it and it seems it comes with XP and cant be reinstalled though I'm probably wrong.

VBscript is also fucked but I've givin up on that.

On a kinda related topic. If I were to DBAN my harddrive could is it still usable?

Help me T&T. Please.

Make a copy of windows with all your drivers on it. Dban your hard drive, and reinstall.

I would have reinstalled but said idiotstick father payed 140 dollars to the computer guy for XP but the computer guy: A, kept the disk after installing it on our comp and B has installed it on other peoples computers and C, my dad wont even ask the computer guy for the disk he payed for because he is a fucking moron. I might give the murder/suicide thing a try if this shit keeps up. Thanks for the..........help? Yah thanks for the help.

Look around in Admin Tools -> Services for enabling stuff like system restore, fast user switching, etc.
