Need help making a shocking alarm
Over the past two years of trying to get up at 4:30 in the morning (for most of this year, I've had to delay my wake-up to 5:00), I've gotten used to my alarms. It's gotten to the point where I now don't even wake up when my mom pushes me back and forth and tells me to wake up in the most annoying voice.
Here's my idea.
Disembowel an alarm clock. Find the part of the clock that leads to the speakers when it's time for you to wake up. Hook this up to an arm bracer (or something) that you will wear when you sleep. This bracer will give me a mild electric shock when it's time for me to wake up.
Now, I need your help.
I've had minimal electrical experience. I'm gonna need to know how to modify the output from the clock so it'll give me a mild shock, like a trick shock pen.
Help?

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
Ha. This is pretty funny.
Well, the speaker to the alarm clock doesn't have much voltage or amperage (which is what I believe you want) output.
Connect the wires to some aluminum foil, and test it out.
Put the positive wire on your skin, and the negative end about 1 inch (2 cm) away from the positive one.
See what happens. The energy from the speaker wires shouldn't be more than 12V.
By the way, you don't want more energy than the stuff comin out from the speaker wires. 120V from the outlet isn't goin to feel so good goin into your arm.

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
Yeah. The output to the speakers is something like 1 volt.
I need to somehow use a capacitor and a resistor to store up a bigger charge.
How many volts does it take to mildly shock a person, like a shock pen?

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
Why not use a high pitched alarm tone, which could easily fuck you up,using a mobile phones would be a lot easier.
I use two mobile phones with 20 reminders to wake up at 4:50 am.

Download an alarm called cool timer. It's got this sound, horn.wav, holy fuck does that ever wake you up. Since I run my computer 24/7, I use it as my alarm. I set my speakers to really loud, and that guarantees I wake up, since it keeps looping forever and ever. You can set any sound you want, so just find the most annoying one.
Although, like all alarms, I get up, turn it off, and go back top bed.

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
You will need to run the out put to the speaker through a transformer to lower the voltage, and increase amperage. Just more than 30mA, because I believe that can cause problems with the heart.

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
Go to sleep earlier, so your body is more-willing to take up easier at that time. Go to sleep at the same time everynight, and you'll find that waking up becomes easy.
No need to shock yourself like this.

Re: Need help making a shocking alarm
You know those practical joke shocking lighters? Use a device like that. Those run off a AAA battery and give you one hell of a shock. I can imagine that a 9v could do some serious damage and maybe even stop your heart. http://amazing1.com/ check out the area where they have plans for "High Voltage & Related Projects"
