Default Mirror Gazing

Has anyone ever tried this?

Let me know if it works. I don't have a large mirror, because I am not vain. I seen this shit in Harry Potter I think. Haha. I didn't know it was an actual practice. I guess that's another reason why people are trying to ban the literature.

It's not the actual method that brings the beasts in, it's the act itself. You would do well to heed that warning.

Never - ever - look into a mirror and say "Biggie Smalls" three times. Heed my words, people.

Mirror gazing can be a useful tool for exploring your mind and self.

That sounds like a load of crap. I've used mirrorgazing before, but not for some OBE or visitation from non-physical beings. You are not going to need all that preparation he is talking about.

Instead of going through all that try this for a few minutes a day for, oh say three days.

Stand or sit in front of a vertical mirror that is eye level. (don't hold the mirror, it gets uncomfortable and divides your attention) You want your face to be somewhere between say 10 and 24 inches away from the mirror to make this easier. All you are going to do is look into the reflection of your eyes. Normally, with both eyes open, your line of sight looks like this X . What you are going to do is use the mirror so that your line of sight is like this l l . This is achieved by relaxing the eye. It helps if you try to see the pupils, rather than the entire eye. I found this to be a great meditation for concentrating the mind on one task (samadhi) and stopping thoughts from arising. Also it literally gives you a new way of looking at the world around you when you learn to apply this technique of "eye relaxation" for lack of a better term. When I do briefly use this technique I find that I am much more aware and objective to what is going on around me rather than immersed in thought and subjective.

P.S. Three days may not be long enough for you to notice a difference in your thinking and perception, but you should be able to at least notice something "different" while doing the excercise if you can manage to control you thoughts sufficiently enough that you don't make yourself feel like a fool for trying something new.

Well, there goes what little credibility you had, right down the drain.
