The C-word: Is it really that bad?
Is it? I honestly never heard of it until one day, in middle school, it came up in a conversation about how it's the worse word in the world. I was like, "Oh really? Never heard it before".
I've been called it several times in my wonderful marriage, but it has not meaning to me, so I don't really take that much offense to it.
So- Is 'cunt' bad? Do you use it? Have you ever called someone it? Would you be offended if someone called you it? Etc, etc.

Re: The C-word: Is it really that bad?
I say cunt all the time. It's kind of an Australian thing I guess. Yanks say "man" and "dude", well we also say that, but we also say cunt.
A typical conversation with my mates:
RING RING
Mate: hello?
Me: ay cunt, what're you doing tonight?
Mate: fuck all, aye. what about you?
Me: prob get on the piss n' go to some bitches party, wanna come?
Mate: yeh allright, whos commin?
Me: Boony, pace n' timbo I think.
Mate: tims a dumb cunt ay?
Me: yeah no shit...
Yeah well that's how most Australians perceive the word cunt. Women on the other hand don't mind that much, unless they're the ones being called a cunt. And trust me that shit can get nasty.

I didn't know that. I believe, that in the US, it is a highly offensive word. Although I'm sure some people would disagree.

I say cunt all the time, and round here pretty much everyone says cunt to refer to other people. As in 'he's a good cunt yo'.
If chicks bitch about I just start getting all uppity whenever they say dick, to piss them off.

Cunt is such a tame word.

Nope, neither. I'm surrounded by them on a pretty much daily basis though, so I guess the behavious sorta rubs off.
Personally, I only use it in a joking manner, as if I were imitating said bogans/niggers. Basically what I was trying to say is that it's not exactly frowned upon to use it in that context.

In Spain the bad words that they have aren't nearly as impacting as ours. You could probably hear old ladies saying things like "Shit!" or "Fuck that" (not in english but in spanish of course) and it wont offend anyone.

What makes cunt any more offensive than calling a nigger a nigger? I think a nigger gets more pissed off when you call him a nigger than a cunt.

It's part of one of my favourite swears, but I don't really swear much. They're just words.
It's a show of disrespect to use words such as those around many people, not the least of which are women. It's best to avoid.

Personally, the word doesn't bother me too much..too an extent. My boss says it more than anyone I've ever met, and she's a woman. The only instance where it really irks me is if it is directed *at* me. Yeah..that's not cool.

I say cunt all the time and personally do not think it is that bad, although i have people that hate the word and cannot bring themelves to say it, and i also have people that hate the word but call me it as well.
I personnaly think that it is individuals opinion on whether they use the word or not. it personnaly does not offend me if i am called it, i just take it as a joke.
Depends on the person i suppose, should ask them.

I very rarely use the word "cunt". I always considered it a silly thing to call someone, specially a bloke "a useless cunt" since I find cunts are rather useful.
I would prefer to call someone a "half cunt" as I certainly cant think of anything more useless.

Here in the UK, Cunt is the only word thats not allowed to be on television. A friend of mine also likes to swear sometimes, his mum always tells him to speak nicely whenever he says something like shit or fuck, then one day he said cunt, she told him if he said it again hed be thrown out the house.

Re: The C-word: Is it really that bad?
Well, like all English words, it depends on context. The term 'cunt' can be used affectionately between two men;
Man A: How ya doin' ya old cunt?
Man B: Ah fuckin' beaut, how's about yourself? How's ya brother, the cunt?
It can be used when extremely annoyed;
*stubs toe on door frame*
Me: CUNT!!!
Or in an argument between two men.
Man A: I fucked your sister, mate, she was a good root.
Man B: Fuck you, you dog fucking cunt.
But never, under any circumstances, call a woman a cunt, unless your prepared to become the next John Wayne Bobbit.
Cheers,
MOTO

Bogans use it alot more. Often time though my vision will come into focus and there will be one of mates is front of me, "Oi.... Sam... you... you're a cunt" then I go back to whatever I was drinking.
Only bogans call people "dog cunts" and shit like that.

Re: The C-word: Is it really that bad?
The only time I tend to say it is when a) someone starts complaining because it has been said in their presence. I can understand someone objecting to being called a cunt, just because it would be an insult, but if someone just can't bear to hear it... I'm gonna end up saying it.
and
b) When all other insults have run out in some sort of male roustabout activity, like playing Halo2 for 5 hours:
"Motherfucker! Do that again and I'll- FUCK, I can't believe you fucking-CUNT! FUCKING CUNT!". But nobody's even slightly offended by that, it's just part of the chatter.

Re: The C-word: Is it really that bad?
I never even heard the word cunt until I was like 13, so it really has no significant meaning to me. I think it's a funny word, I like to say it, and it doesn't offend me at all. I have one friend who's mom flips out if she hears anyone say it though. Every time I say 'cunt' at his house, he's like "SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My mom might hear you!" It's pretty gay.
Words are words. People who get offended over a single word need to get a life.

Re: The C-word: Is it really that bad?
Like the F -word, I think if I had used the C-word at home when I was a kid then my parents would have had me exorcised!
Yet strangely enough nowadays my Mom uses the F-word quite often. Times change I guess.
The older i get the less I feel the need to swear, especially as these days every word kids speak seems to be an F or C.
LOL, we thought 'Shit' was hardcore...
A woman has a cunt , although I prefer the softer 'cunny', she can however never be a cunt. Only men can be that....or computers.
