Default Bread

Bread is one of the most common components in any meal, but it varies so much. Mediocre bread gets engulfed without much thought, but a good bread, I mean a bangin' bread that's better then any you've tasted for awhile, will just knock you out wont it?

So what's your preferance on bread? For cold sandwiches, Scrambled Egg Sandwiches, Toast, French Toast, almost everything, I will only use Potato Bread. I can imagine any meal with white bread, then imagine it with Potato Bread, and the Potato scenarion just takes the cake.

That and Longhorn Resturaunt chain as some of the best bread I've tasted (The bread they bring out before the meal). Besides home made bread (I'm from Lancaster, PA. That's Amish/Mennonite Country. This place is the CAPITAL for baked goods made from scratch, in a completely old-fashioned way, with old techonogly, so its GOOD.) Those are two of the best.

What's your take on Bread? Not that big a deal? Does the bread really make the meal? Even though its never the feature?

EDIT: Some SP errors, probably more.

Bread is great. All kinds of breads- bagels, French, sourdough, wheat, Panera's (yummmmm). I eat bread, I love carbs. Screw the Atkins, I need my bread goddammit.

::EDIT::
The bread at Athens Kouzzina is pretty good. They just hand you a huge loaf of fresh baked on a little pan. And bread at Johnny Carino's is definitely good.

I like cibatta for sandwiches. Pita sandwiches are also pretty cool.

I have to say that my absolute favorite bread is naan.

Default Re: Bread

i make really good walnut bread, the old fashioned way - by hand. i've never considered getting a breadmaker, it would take all the fun out of the process.

however, with lacking time i resort to buying bread from a bakery near my university. i go for a sourdough or sometimes a dark rye/caraway loaf.

i never have plastic white bread at home. the closest i get is when i go and get a sandwich loaf so i can make good toasties.

I just tried cooking some bread.
After it being in the oven for a few hours it's still this soggy, saggy, raw lump of gunk, albeit a hot soggy saggy raw lump of gunk.

at this point, I say
To hell with it!I'll just get a loaf of cheap 27p bread from sainsburys instead!! Fuck!!!!

Buy a breadmaker, yoyobek!

I use mine to mix and knead sticky dough like cibatta and pita and it's just great! Sometimes I even use it to make a loaf of sandwich bread if I'm tired or pressed for time. I spent like $65 on my breadmaker 2 years ago and it still works great. It also makes butter, but I prefer store bought to the butter that it makes.

i don't really like bread much.
occasionally my dad will get me rogenbrot or i think it's rye sour dough bread stuff? dark, dry, almost stale like and ver wide rectangular slices, and i'll eat that like half a slice at a time totally dry.
i just hate eating bread and i find the texture to be just horrid. whenevr i try to eat white bread, i imagine it tastes like milk? tohugh i don't know what milk tastes like, but the bread just tastes bad for you and fake. i have this one pen i got at a job interview, and when i chew it, it tastes like white bread :/
