Default The shit advice you get from women in a Mens magazine

Just about every mens magazine (that i look at occasionally) these days has some column written by a woman giving advice to guys about how to interact with their women and not fuck up..... They've been there for a while now. Sometimes they give what seems to be credible advice....but usually I see advice given from the woman, acting as if she would be thinking rationally in whatever situation is discussed....and its just not realistic. or what she advices would be (at least borderline, if not outright) lying. and I dont mind lying to my girl to shut her up, as long as its minor, inconsequential shit; "no, I don't find her attractive," "I'm so glad I'm here with the hottest date," etc.....
I guess i deviated from what I meant to discuss. This article fragment I'm posting isn't that bad, I've seen worse.....

FORBIDDEN PHRASE #4

"YOU KNEW I WAS THIS WAY WHEN YOU MARRIED ME."

Well, the truth is that we didn't. Or we knew deep down, but we were so busy enjoying our fantasy of you that we chose to ignore what was really there. It's not your fault. It's just that when we were little, we spent so much time daydreaming about having the perfect life. Now that we're actually in grown-up life, we can't turn off our daydreaming switch. Telling a woman, "You knew I was this way when you married me" is like saying the way your life is right now is the way it's going to be forever and ever. And that may well be true--in many wonderful and not-so-wonderful ways. But if she were to accept that, a little part of her would die.

Say . . . "It frustrates me, too--and I'm working on it." It's a lie. That's okay.

-Mens Health

my interpretation:

girl finds boy. They date. Of course the guy still acts like a jackass and does some less than mature and sophisticated things occasionally, probably when with his guy friends...drinking....girl sees this, keeps dating. Marries guy. guy gets together with other guy friends one night, drink beer, have fun....hilarity and immaturity ensue...woman flips out over it....over same behavior he did before marriage....which she knew about....

guy basically says "ya, this is the guy you married...I was like this before too...you knew that...whats the big fucking deal?"

so the female columnist advices to lie about being sorry and 'working on it'...even saying that lie is OK....

It should be...it might even diffuse that situation at the time.... but you know that whenever that guy gets with his friends and acts up again.....his wife will come down on him hard again...and now she will be even more pissed.... saying shit like "we talked about this! you said you would work on it! But you LIED!!!" drama ensues and ruins everyones night...

to the point of the post....females giving advice to guys on how to deal with pissed off females in these mags is wrong..... however rational the woman might appear when not pissed off, and writing the article, she would be bat shit crazy if pissed off at a guy...and she doesnt realize it...her advice would be worthless.

in these articles they always tackle the problem from some understanding/supportive point of view, which they only see if it benefits them, when they are calm and in control of a situation.....unfortunately, usually their point of view is some skewed, illogical, emotion-based take on things, barely grounded in reality......all rational thought, logic & reasoning faculties shut down when they're either: really mad, PMSing, drunk, SAD/emotional...

enough getting bad advice from bad sources.....

I never lie to girlfriends. If she wants to ask me if I find a girl attractive she is going to get an honest answer. And if I tell her she is the hottest person around then it's going to be true (and before people start saying "lawl j00 don't go out with *vapid female celebrity*, it's in the eye of the beholder alright?).

And I expect the same from her. that's why I don't ask if I'm the biggest she's ever had, or about her digestive system or periods:P

No, I agree completely...thats the way I behave around my GF...I tell her exactly what I think unless it's something that would be mean and is better left unsaid; but i think she knows better than to ask those questions. Honesty is the easiest way to deal with them.... I wish my roommate got that...and wasn't so fucking whipped.

...I'm just pissed off at the lame advice given by these mags which is complete bullshit....mens mags should be like mens clubs....keep the women out, unless they're the nude entertainment...

So if your gf asked if you thought she was the prettiest in the room and you didn't think so, you'd be all like "no, actually, I think she's better looking, but you're still pretty" or whatever? That's gotta really kill the confidence.

Hmmm

Exactly. Feelings influence how someone looks to me so much.

hah. i read those things in men's and women's magazines for amusement sometimes when im working in the library. its hilarious because many times one of the pieces of advice to "spicing" things up in bed is "communicate with your partner." i mean, are we so far gone from reality that we forgot this? if you have to be reminded of this, are you really with your partner?

These magazines mainly exist to sell you overpriced products you don't really need.

Why cant it be to try harder?

If a son asks his father who did the best in a race where he came in at the middle ofthe pack, are you going to honestly tell junior that he did the best job at being average?

Because you can't "try" to look better. Other than dress, makeup, weight (but go tell any woman she needs to work on her weight, tell me how that goes), etc.
