Default Making friends...

As some of you may know I have recently started a new school.
I know a few people, but not a lot.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to meet people etc?

~Thanks in advance.

Look for people that you think you would like and say hey and go from there?
You could always resort to looking on myspace hahaha

I've tried.
I'll go up to someone and be all like, "Hey how's it going?" Then I usally get a weird look and a "Hi" back.

hmm,you could try asking for some help around the school or advice and try to start friendly conversations.
Maybe your talking to the wrong people?

Mabye you should join an after-school club or a sports team. But make sure you do something that you have a lot of interest in or else you'd be doing it for all the wrong reasons (you know don't join the baseball team if you hate baseball and just want to make friends). These kind of things take time so just be patient.

Go to parties and get drunk and do drugs and hook up with random people.
I'm convinced it's the only way to be socially accepted in high school.

Joining a sport or club would be an easy way to make a group of friends.

But other than that, the random approach should usually work. If it's not, it means you need to set your body language and self confidence straight.

Talk to as many people as you can. Be high energy, smile, be positive. By next week every student that sits within 2 desks from you should be your blood brother.

As long as you have the perfect body language, you can use any flimsy pretense to talk to somebody.

I have learned that the key to looking relaxed is to completely block out any thoughts of what you think you look like (weird syntax, I know). Actually, just block out thoughts of yourself. Don't think about how you appear to be. Convince yourself to be an idiot for a second and completely delude yourself into thinking that the other person is guaranteed to like you. Have an amiable look on your face... not a full on smile, because that would be weird. But that look on your face where you're completely at peace... hard to explain. I'll try to find a picture.

Here's one: http://www.slrobertson.com/images/cambodia/angkor-buddha-b.jpg

Look at that face, and try and imagine what Buddha is thinking right there. I realize that he's smiling, but it's the best I could do. He's thinking that everything is in it's place, that he is exactly where he should and wants to be.

It is your goal to delude yourself into thinking this, only for a moment. Now, not necessarily smiling like the picture, but try and keep the mindset. Make yourself feel like it is your mission to talk to whatever person, that failure is not an option, and that you are happy to do it.

To summarize: completely block out all self-awareness, all self-consciousness, and look at peace like the Buddha.

GODSPEED!

Also, wtf does that even mean?

this would be one of the things that would make you get more respect. just beat the fuck out of the biggest kid in school. people will respect you. thats what i did. im a freshman and knocked out a junior. pretty much all of freshman class is afraid of me now but they all respect me.
but if you are looking for friends. just go around and talk to a kid just be like hey whats up. talk to kids around your locker or in your homeroom if you have one. thats the best way. or do something that will make you noticed and will make people want to talk to you and then theyll relize u might be a cool kid and that theyll want to be friends with you. i somehow managed to go from everyone hating me in the beginning of the year and now most people love me but still fear me wich is still a downside =[

wow, men suck at this . okay here you go: just hang around for a while, DONT make friends with people just because they're there( hint: people who are more interesting and less socially unacceptable most likely take longer to warm up because..well...they're cool.) be yourself but only say a lot if you think you have interesting responses, because most people, when they feel lonely or anxious, start getting verbal diarrhea. If you want to feel like you made the friends out of real amicable nature, that's a different story. The people who will get to know you soon and be nicer in the long run are most likely the people that no one in that class thinks is cool. Talking to people next to you in class develops friendships fast, because you can help eachother with the work, and if someone older and wiser than you seems to be reaching out, guiding you, most likely that's a good sign- they know you're a little bit lost, but they aren't trying to encroach on your free will or anything. if you're more specific about the kind of friends I could probably be more help. there's being real, and then there's being cool, hard to believe anyone on totse could teach cool, but yes I could try

Ok I take back what I said earlier. Do this, and if it doesn't get you anywhere, actually try to make friends instead of waiting for them to come to you.

Because, let's be honest, there is a chance that nobody will like the real you. If so, you're going to have to fake your ass off.

Either way, good luck!

When some of the few friends you have now go to hang out with other friends, tag along if you can.
