So, I work at Abercrombie, and I'm one of the guys who greets people when they come in. Well, I've already gotten some sly looks by a few girls, but I just don't know how to randomly start a conversation. I mean, I'm not terribly shy, but that does have something to do with it.

Please, how can I approach all these hot girls without making an ass out of myself?

Your job is to speak to them. Clothing stores usually hire reasonably attractive people, so chances are you're not grotesque. Just talk to them about anything. The topic is not important, your manner is. Calm and confident.

You could try making a joke or something, but it could come off as sexual assault, or just plain stupid. The interaction time is just way too small. Don't forget you are at work, so if you do fuck up, there could be huge trouble.

It's totally different to saying things to random chicks on the street - if they take it the wrong way, your already gone.

If you could get a job on the registers, that would be better. At least she has to stand there for a couple of minutes, so you could actually have a conversation.

As an aside, my first job was as a spruiker out the front of a bargain store. After a couple of weeks of it, I could say funny shit to girls 100m away and get away with it because everyone else was laughing too. After a couple of years of this, I could say things that I know only a select few people would get, and those that got it would laugh.... it was pretty cool.

"Bargains? Have we got Bargains? Our bargains are bigger than Johnny Holmes!!! Just come inside and see for yourself!" - if a chick laughed at that, I knew 1) she knew a bit about porn, and 2) she knew I was into porn....

"Sox, do you need sox? Checkout our range of sports sox over here" - saying that, while holding a sock by the toe in front of me, looking at a girl, with one eyebrow raised always got a laugh.

just be all smiley and ask if they need any help. be really friendly and casual, talk like you want to talk them and naturally, almost as if you've met them before. wooden, formal store assisstants are always annoying and boring, just go awayyyyyy!
oh, i hope you dress better or are hotter (or a million times friendlier and nicer, but the other two are easier) than any other males who walk the floors, otherwise you have little to no chance : )

work isn't really the place to pick up girls, but i guess it's good practice for startng conversations and you may well bump into them later in another store or at a party, they'll be way more likely to talk to you than someone they've never seen before.
(idk hwo it is in the us, but where i live, the people who shop in the same sort of stores and be around the city centre tend to know each other, or their friends know each other. it's like friendship groups which connect how the olympic rings look. stupid comparison, but i couldn't think of anything better)

The idea is not to just start a random conversation, but to ask a question that is completely expected (like what you looking to buy?) and then return her answer with confident conversation. Don't follow them around if they aren't catching your bait though, don't want to look needy.

I'm 17, and most of these girls are in high school. I'm not really ugly, I don't think. And a few of these girls have flirted with me, like one chick came in and looked around, when she made eye contact with me she grinned and looked away, and started kind of dancing to the shitty techno they play in there.

I might even quit because the people who work there are either stupid or gay, or both.
