Default The Infractions Kinda Need to be Changed [IMO]

Does anyone else agree with me?

I think that spam shouldn't be quite so many points; certainly attempting to hack or deface totse should be worth more than spam. I think having multiple accounts, too, should be worth more than just one point.

And, on a side note, the user: Mr Goatse/jeff -unter/NO W4RNING is back I think [without being able to check the IP I can't be sure]. But I'm 99% sure since thew name he is using is: NO W4RN1NG [notice the '1' instead of an 'i'].

I feel that infractions, and reputation as well, shouldnt have the option of being anonymous, or 'private'. Some people in suggestions box were getting really irate about that. They seem to think that all the mods are power tripping and picking on random people for a whim.

infractions aren't anonymous. They can view who gave them, for what topic, and how much they have gotten.

Except for the ones marked 'private' ofcourse.

I more refer to reputation in regards to anonymous ones. It seems...cowardly.

As far as reputation goes, I think that having non-anonymous reputation would make people less likely to give legitimate bad rep, for fear of just getting down-repped in return. It's only really an issue in SG, I don't think people elsewhere are using it just as a way to insult people much. And the SG posters complaining about getting a lot of negative rep with anonymous comments like "you're a cunt" are the ones who flame and bitch all the time. I personally think it's good as it is, despite the few people just using it on posters they don't like for no reason.

With infractions, I think the points for spamming are fine as they are, but I also think you're giving them out too readily. A single thread that doesn't belong in the forum doesn't seem like spam; if you feel like you're giving out too many infraction points, maybe try posting a warning and explanation in the first thread and just closing it, and infracting for re-posts and "OMG MY THRED IS LOKD NAZI META" threads?

Hack or deface seems like it should be worth more points (although it's useful as a fairly generic 'warning' infraction, being 1 point), but the multiple accounts one seems fine as it is, since you can infract every post made by that account. Two posts on a multiple account isn't much of a problem, but ten would be more punishable.

What he said. I think i can't have given anymore then 6 infractions, over my 4 forums since we've had the new system.
For spam, I tend to give bad rep, and a writen warning of sorts first, and if they do it again, they get slapped with an infraction. I also look to see if they've had infractions in the past from other mods for the same things , and if they have and they're continuing to do it in my forum - they'll get one from me.

I don't think infractions should be handed out so readily.

I'm guessing different people have different definitions of spam(or vastly different in this case).

I've given it only when it's repeat offenders who know what they're doing.

Yeah, I made a thread about that problem, and I never got a satisfactory answer. I don't even see the option to make an infraction "private" when I give one, anyway. So how are they created in the first place?

It's the post/thread it was given too that comes off as "private".

I'm guessing that either:

a) the post/thread was deleted, hence a link isn't given (and only the mods of the forum in which the thread was created can see it)

b) or the infraction was given through the user's profile page - which doesn't have a post/thread associated with it.

Well, that makes sense.

Speaking of bans, it appears than bans are not being automatically triggered (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2000127) at 10 points.

If you're talking about reject, all his infractions had already expired.

Ha, I'm retarded; I didn't even bother to look at the date. I just assumed that if the infractions were visible, they were active. So the system maintains a "permanent record", so to speak?
