Sodomite is defined as "one who engages in sodomy"
Sodomy is defined as "anal or oral copulation with a member of the same sex"
hence, the caller either was gay or was pretending to be gay. regardless, Savage didnt know either way.
Savage directed the comment at the caller without knowing anything further than the caller was gay (or, according to your logic, pretending to be gay).
