Default Those one word posts..

You know the ones:
"QFT!!" "+1..." and so on.

A poster in OI has started favouring quoting something pretty stupid and then following the quote simply with a
"....." Which.. is really..stupid.

Can these be classed as spam? Or are they just something that has to be tolerated?

In my opinion, it's something we just have to put up with. It's not really hurting anything, other than your patience and sanity. And you can do without those. :)

Nah seriously, it can be humorous when used wisely. But at other times it's just fucking ridiculous.

LOL I actually didn't do that on purpose.

You could say I often run into the problem of there not being enough characters in my posts though :(

I don't think it's an issue at all. I mean, if they actually do agree with everything that person posted, what more would you want them to say? I personally favor the 12345, that's just me though...

Are you talking about one word replies, or one word thread starters?

We usually consider one word thread starters as spam, though there are of course exceptions.

One word replies, though, I just ignore, of course there are exceptions here too.

^ are people doing that to be punished? It's technically breaking the character-limit rule, but it's pretty common and seems harmless; posting "....." or "12345" instead of just quoting something you agree with is no different. I edited out a post where somebody actually gave a step-by-step on how to do it and gave a one-point infraction, but I've not done anything otherwise.

I leave it unless that's the entire content of the thread, not just the post. If it's just a reply, I try to ignore it. If it's a whole thread, it gets sent to the trash.

I don't think it's wrong to do that in such a harmless way. Like you said, it's the same thing really.

And I do agree that it's bad for someone to make a post telling everyone how to do it, only because people have, and would make such a fuss over it. I dunno if I'd give them an infraction, but it was only one point. All that does is send a message.

There haven't been any problems with it in our forum so far, so I think we're okay.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them, TBH.

Or at least, there are certain instances where it is applicable. Like when I close a thread for a rule violation, if someone has already pointed out the rule, I used to just quote them and close it, but vB hasn't let me (5 character limit).

Anywho, I don't think it's really a big deal. I mean, it's no different than "QFT" (or "QFMFT" as people have started using to bypass the limit).

I wanted to post in your thread about cooking for people. It had great potential. :)

But...it was closed and full of spam.

I thought Mods weren't supposed to do that as it would hinder the ability to moderate. At least I thought that was said somewhere in this forum.

It's not for my sake I find them annoying. But they can seriousy de-rail really good threads.

Meta: I thought that too. Imagine if every mod 'ignored' an annoying poster. So how would we know if they were spamming or posting harmfull links?

Exactly why I closed it.

I would in no way do that to another posters thread, but I'm there to try and stop the flaming and the fucking sg idiots, and that thread seemed to attract both.

As I've said to Sambob, I value the oppinions of regular posters who arent morons very much, and I shall be re-posting that thread only phrased in a less challenging way.
I guess I sounded quite irate and dominant in that thread, which threatens alot of the little boys who plague totse.

Never mind.

I'm going to close this now, before another bundle of wit decides to post

"12345".
