Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
Most young people these days do nothing else but go to parties, drink, get fucked up and drive around cars. This is the majority of the socially acceptable things to do.
If you don't do these things, even play sport, computer games etc... It does not get you friends. (correct me if you have met a big group of friends this way). It seems there aren't the social networks in place for these type of things.
Mention a party however and hundreds of drunk and horny teenagers will turn up. I was a computer nerd up until I moved out of home (within reason) I had a few friends but no real social network. The few friends I had were because of hobbies I already had.
Once I discovered the green stuff it opened my mind and my social gateway. It was a uniting experience to have a few drinks or have a few tokes with people at a party. Through this experience you somehow form much stronger relationships with them than you would in a sober state. It's almost as if a greater level of understanding with each other is reached?
Once you have this group of friends comes a lot more opportunities arise with females... Why do females always hang out at parties and drugs? Even if they don't agree with it half the time? I find it bizarre..
Not really sure what the point of this post is... I guess I'm asking/saying that drugs and alcohol are really the only way to have a big social network of friends at a young age. Through this you meet a lot of good people (and some bad) who I've found you end up knowing for a long time. Has anyone else here had a big group of friends that don't smoke/drink or anything of the sort? Christians aren't included....

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
Believing "Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life"=path to drug addiction.
Girls hang out at parties because the only way they can get any cock is by subtley saying "I'm horny and want to fuck" by their presence at parties in sexy outfits.
Social life without drugs and alcohol?=Addrenaline Junkie/hobby nerd. Dance classes, skydiving, scuba diving.
Anything that makes you an exciting person and will make people feel inadequate in comparison as a result of their drug addiction being their sole source of social activity.
Thanks for the question!

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
This is kinda true. But I find most of the time that the people I meet when drunk/stoned, I don't really have much of a connection too... unless I'm drunk. The same goes for drunk hook ups. I've found that I have become better friends with the people I've known, but haven't really got to know.
I have about 4 close friends that I'm real chill with. These are the kinda guys you've known your whole lives. Pretty much brothers. I rarely go out clubbing, partying with out one of these dudes. But I also do other stuff with them, like fuck around playing video games and normal shit like that.
This circle of friends are connected to a whole collection of groups of friends. Now, these people in the other groups are my drugs & alcohol friends. Sure, every once in a while we might meet up and chill a bit, but most of the time we meet up for the primary reason to get fucked up.
Now I forgot why I'm typing this. Something about drugs & alcohol. Well yeah, I guess I've only made a few friends via drugs and booze, but I have strengthen a lot of friendships (and relationships ;)). And yeah I do have some friends who don't drink and get fucked up every weekend. Some because of religion, and some because... well, they're nerds.

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
To a degree I think this is true. I don't see how sports teams and such doesn't make you friends, in fact anything thats a social activity will help a person make friends and get a social life. The partying is generally a result from these first contacts. I have very few friends that I met at parties or in clubs - but most of my friends like to party - I just met them somewhere else (including, high school, university, through my flat mates).
And not all girls, or in fact guys aswell, go to parties to get laid! When I go clubbing I go with my friends, to have a good time, to dance and if I have a guy show interest in me then thats great, but I don't always act on it.
Drugs/alcohol aid the process of getting to know people better, you talk about things that you'd never think of/be too hesitent to talk about - and it brings lots of lulz :D . It's enjoyable, so why not do it? People have different ways of socially interacting and just because some choose to party, doesn't make them any less or any better of a person then those that don't.

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
When I was in my late teens we had a pretty big group hangin' around together most days. Between fifteen and twenty of us on a good day. Others came and went, but the main people were always there.
In our group, there was always alcohol, there was always weed, there were sometimes other drugs and stuff, but not everyone took everything. Some people drank daily while others only once a week. Some toked only when they were drunk while others never had a joint or pipe out of their mouths.
The drug use within our gang was far from mandatory and had little effect on socialising. You were already there because you wanted to socialise, what you did while you were there made little difference. It's not like people walked up and stood around silent until they had a drink or a toke in them.

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
Well how else are we supposed to make freinds then to enjoy the tradition of getting fucked up,fucking and travelling at fast speeds with complete strangers i mean its the fastest, most fun and most efficient way to meet people.
And most other ways are to specific/bizarre or just not that fun,my other interests are either to complex, weird or pointless for other people to be even remotely sociable experiences.

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
I guess I was wrong in saying that sports doesn't involve meeting new friends.. thinking about it a few good friends I have met through sport.
I guess what brought this thread on was the concept that in your younger years (particularly throughout high school) the only acceptable thing to talk about in most circles is drugs, alcohol, sex and cars.
I guess I was just reflecting after leaving... The one thing in common with all these activities is that they don't have any long term benefits towards self improvement and all can cost a fair amount of money.. (maybe excluding the sex) not to mention that drugs and alcohol make you stupid. Maybe it is the stupid people who decide what is considered cool? I don't know why. I just think the whole cool concept is pretty interesting..

Now how does that make you any smarter then the stupid people?
People talk about parties, etc because they happen most often and are often pretty fucking interesting no matter how stupid.
Try going out one night and talk to a complete stranger be they a homeless guy, some drunk bitches whoever
it does'nt matter but you will learn something and might just enjoy it.;)

Re: Drugs and Alcohol = Social Life
Nothing cooler than proving to yourself and those around you that you don't value your own life.
Yay for DUI.
