Online Dating: good idea?
Anyone had experience with online dating? I'm bored as hell with the local variety and thought I'd give it a try.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
I've never gone through a match.com/eharmony type site, just people I've met through Totse. I'll have to admit, I had oe bad experience, but that was because of a poor choice I made, but as I think about it, it just wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I can make another one work out. But basically, don't rule it out. It can work if you really try.
But I will say this: If they aren't close to you (near your physical location), it takes a lot of trust. Without trust, you can't trust. that sounds redundant, but I'm drunk at the moment.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
yeah, I'd have a problem with trying to meet someone who isn't at least 50 miles away from me. I've been messing around with HotorNot.com (lawlz) and I've been talking with some pretty nice girls from around my area.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
Unless they're in the same city as you and you plan to meet, then take the dating from there - yeah sure.
But over the internet, meeting when ever the other can afford to fly to a different city/country/across the other side of the world, thats where I say don't bother.

Nooooo.
No NO Nooooooo!!
My dad used to try online dating. The fat aggressive ugly smelly old stupid stingy nasty old fuck, who portrated himself online as a "mid forties, slim attractive guy with a great talent for all musical instruments and a love of dining out and having fun" type deal.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
I know a guy who used it for fuck buddies. Supposedly went well twice... Then again, he was an attractive wealthy male so... It's not magic, it's just a great way to meet sluts and cut the chit chat.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
hey, if they were willing to travel half the distance I would be fine with it. I'm talking with someone right now who lives 475 miles away...if we met half the distance, I would only have to travel to Sacramento :p
screw it, thats hella far away

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
I found the love of my life through MSN... so I say go for it. We're still together and still happy and I'm flying all the way to Canada to see her this summer! <3

I don't know if I could travel to another state, let alone the country for someone I met on the net. I take it this is a first-time visit? With my luck, I'd travel across the state just to find out that she is really a 50-year old man who occasionally wears women's clothes. :(

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
I've met two guys from a dating website. One a went on about 10 dates with but then he met someone else so I just haven't talked to him since. The other turned into quite a good friend with benefits. So I would say go for it. The worst that could happen is that you'll have an awkward date, but then you just dont have to see each other again.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
It depends on if people are open and honest. Maturity plays a large roll.
Actually using the internet to look for a date has always seemed off-putting to me. If you meet someone online and it evolves to the point of wanting to date, then I don't see an issue.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
Falling in love with someone who's thousands of miles away can cause intense suffering. Don't self-own.

Re: Online Dating: good idea?
lawl! This girl I've been talking to on AIM just asked for my phone number. She lives half-way across the state. So she calls me and starts talking about random stuff. I can't tell if she's fat or not yet. I can't really tell from her pictures either. :(
