Default MIP (15 yr old)

So last night, me and some friends were drinking is a park when a rec guy from there asked us to leave. i had one beer and left. we go back to the car (driver wasnt drinking) but 2 other were. he stops to take a piss around the corner from where the car was. cops show up, and pull us out of the car. i get out and tell the officer i dont conscent to searched, and he cuffs me and pushes me around. then his partner sits me down and starts asking questions and i say i want to talk to my lawyer (dont have one) and then she throws me in the squad car, luckly i got my fone out of my pocket while in the car and called my dad so i wouldnt have to go to jail. so i have a court date in the future. i feel like my rights were violated, what do you guys think? any suggestions on how to get out of this, everyone got off except me because i used my rights...and spoke up, not back to the officer

At times like that, it is best to practice your right to remain silent.

They're allowed to detain you.

You were not arrested, you only got a ticket.

Be thankful they didn't arrest your friend.

Ya. You're good. People in my family have gotten out of trouble on more than one occasion because the cops did something wrong. If they don't do it perfrct, then you pretty much get off scott free.

Cuffs for an MIP? You've got to love the bullshit intimidation tactics. That's practically a traffic ticket. Fight it if you want.

It'll probably cost more for a lawyer to do that than it will to not. Find out your options and take a night to think about it and discuss it with your parents. The PO is going to presure you in to signing an agreement on the spot. Don't if you have any intention of fighting it. The fine is probably a couple hundred clams, 20 or so community service hours. Lose your license/permit since it's drug related and some random UAs. Depends on the state to some extent I'm sure. Maybe they'll make you take a class or something.

It's a way for the state to balance it's budget. The juvenille department is practically an IRS for little shits.
