Remember the videos of the band I posted, and everyone said they suck?

My brothers band is opening for the White Stripes on July 13th.


I'd say thats not too shabby for 2 16 year olds and a 14 year old.

So what? It's not like that's going to magically change people's opinion of your brothers band.

I went to high shcool with a guy whose band opened for Shooter Jennings, that doesn't mean that I suddenly loved his music. It just means a band I don't like opened up for another band I don't like.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad your brother and his friends are having fun playing music together. But there's really no point for this thread, it's just you bragging about your brother's accomplishments (which if I remember correctly you didn't even like his band to begin with) and trying to say "rub it in our faces".

Your brother is playing for the White Stripes, good for him, but the real question is: Why should we care?

I would never go to see your brothers band, mind you. I'm just interested to see what size venues the Stripes are playing.

Shooter Jennings is Waylon Jennings son. But in case you don't know who Waylon is, let me explain.

Waylon Jennings was a very famous "out-law" country musican here in America (just as famous as Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson) during the 60's, 70's, and mid 80's.

Waylon "Shooter" Jennings Jr. is his son. He is no where near as famous as his father, although he did play his father in the Johnny Cash movie "Walk the Line". I guess he might be popular among "alt. country" fans but I don't understand why, his music just isn't very good.

Good on them. But it still doesn't change my opinion on them. And they're playing with another band I can't stand.

So you're automatically good if you open for a popular band, huh? I've seen some absolutely shocking opening acts in my time, it means nothing. Just the same as absolutely shocking bands can win "battle of the bands" contests. As said, it's good for them, but I'd stand by my opinion that they're mediocre at best. Unless they improved, I'd stand by that opinion even if they became as famous as the White Stripes are now.
