| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

Is The Drug War Worth This?
http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/to...116112939.html
Some cops kicked in a door of a house and killed a 92 year old woman. Well, she did shoot at the cops, being that they kicked the door in and came in. I would have probably done the same living in a shitty neighborhood. They then planted bags of weed on her.
This drug war is pathetic and worthless, it is a mock show of control. The cops get something to put in the newspaper to make it sound like something is getting done. No progress will ever be made, someone somewhere will want to bend reality be it from something smuggled over the border in someone's ass or from under their sink.

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
The war on drugs is one of the most illogically conceived, poorly executed, biggest waste of tax dollars this country has ever seen.
I'm still surprised how horribly the "war on drugs" has failed isn't, nor even has been a major news story.
There was an article in the newspaper that said marijuana today is about 2 percent more potent than it was a few years ago. marijuana is just as easy to get. I know cocaine and heroin are still common as hell, though I admittedly don't know as many people that do coke or heroin as I do people that smoke pot.
It's just a retarded situation.

I could find a way to get just about any drug besides PCP and some Southwestern hallucinogens (peyote, mescaline) by the end of the day. The War on Drugs is an abject failure, just like any prohibition, whether it be of guns, buttsex, or alcohol.

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
Just think what could be done with the hundreds of billions spent fighting it. All those massive busts they keep bragging about on the news channels make no difference on the street . I remember when Mexico tried to test the waters and the US, like always, bullied them into scapping the whole idea. Then that bitch DA (or whatever she was) in San Diego accused the Mexicans of being in kahoots with the scum who took advantage of the legal status of these substances. The truth is, is that its the other way around. The reason these people are so powerfull is the fact that it is illegal. Its a windfall for organized crime which is why the market is so violent. Most of the "biggies" live in countries where they are practically untouchable; they are almost governments in themselves, with their own private armies (and a major employer). So the people who gain the most, are the very people these laws were enacted to fight, its pathetic. The most convincing reaso is the most simple, it doesnt work and thats all there is to it. Pouring that amount of resourses into something that doesnt work is stupid defies logic.

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
my biggest problem with it, is the wasted prison space on petty drug convictions, then they let child molesters out in 10 years...I was looking at the Illinois DOC site, and the people charged with drug crimes get more time that sex offenders...

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
You would think that the law enforcement agencies would have better things to do then wasting their time on something like that.

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
This is old news (I live in ATL).
I think it says more about the pathetic state of the Atlanta police department than anything. It's pretty shameless to take a dead granny and twist it into your own cockeyed agenda.
But you've gotta give her credit, she went down fighting.

Especially in a shithole like Atlanta. People are getting shot and killed every day.
There's more to this story than the media and the po-po are telling us. Let's let the courts sort it out.

Re: Is The Drug War Worth This?
Seriously, how about the cops focus on people that are committing crimes that actually hurt other people, like all the robberies that they don't do shit about?
