Melatonin > l-tryptophan
okay, so melatonin is a sleep-aid, and powerful mood enhancer. Also gives you vivid dreams.
L-tryptophan is also a sleep-aid and mood enhancer. But does not give vivid dreams.
Only difference is, melatonin is dirt-cheap, <5$ for 360mg (0.3mg's being the daily dose), and l-tryptophan is expensive as fuck. 15$ for 3000 (300mg's being the daily amount to take) mg's.
So in conclusion, you shouldn't waste your money on l-tryptophan, but instead buy melatonin for your depressions, E-comedowns, or whatever.

Re: Melatonin > l-tryptophan
Melatonin is nice. I love the dreams I get. Ive tried doses 3-15mg and got better results from 3mg than 15mg. Has anyone else experienced this?
Although I liked melatonin at first, I discontinued its use becuase after a while it made me feel groggy and tired in the morning.

Re: Melatonin > l-tryptophan
I take 3mg melatonin every night. At first, it was great, but now it makes me groggy in the mornings, and I can't sleep without it (my pineal gland doesn't produce any naturally)

Re: Melatonin > l-tryptophan
3mg melatonins aren't something you should take everyday. I take it once and get vivid dreams for over a month.
Just stop taking it and dont expose yourself to too much light, and you should get your pineal gland back in shape.

Yes. Except when it's a stimulant. Depends on how your body metabolizes it at that moment. But yes.

1) I get it for <$5/oz.
2) If you're in the US, you can't *get* the shit without extracting it yourself, and have to rely on the more-expensive and more-limited-purpouse 5HTP.

MMMMMmmmkay, buddy. I'll give you the "or whatever" - now find me the enzyme in the body which rips the methyl group OFF the 5-hydroxyl group before deacetylating to serotonin.
Can you?
Riiiight... so "depression" and "e-comedowns" are the two things it WON'T do.
Unlike l-tryp. Which also makes serotonin in addition to melatonin.
