IS posting on R&R with two usernames. He's had another one that he's used off and on before. I didn't recommend him for banning when I first noticed it because the forum change happened so soon after, I thought I'd sort of give him a chance to 'start fresh' with the new software, but he's back using more than one username (all varioatns on the "exploration in ____ space" theme), trolling and flaming and causing problems like usual.

I gave him an infraction for it but its not like that does anything..

Are you sure he is using multiple accounts? Like, has he admitted it?

I only ask because just because there are multiple "Exploration of ___Space" accounts doesn't necessarily mean they are all his. Remember the MLOR fad from a year or two ago? Plus, I was under the impression that at least one of the ___Space spoof accounts (ExplorationofLOLSpace or something like that) was used by someone else.

Of course, if he admitted it, then that's a completely different situation.

But if not, I think that this is a good example of why we should be able to check IP's.

Yeah Ia gree, it would be good to be able to check IPs. But he posts the same kind of flaming trolling stuff on all three accounts, so thats what I'm going by

Multiple user names, I know are against the rules.. But I have to admit I wish there was some rule about changing usernames over and over again. This guy has a new usernames every 10 days or so!

When I got someone who I know - well know beyond a reasonable doubt - is using more than one account, I give an infraction every time he uses the other account.

I had one guy who got a temp ban come right back with a second account. And that account got banned in under an hour.

He got the hint.

And, BTW, I second the ban request: This guy has been a detriment to totse since the first time I modded SG.

Well I think that Exploration of Space is a completely different user than Exploration of LOLSpace and Exploration of ZodSpace. At least it seems like EOS's post are different than either EOLS/EOZS.

On the whole Aludin/Rainbow_Dancer/Straight out the Congo/Aludin Ad blah blah blah situtation: Is there any particular reason he changes names so much? It's very annoying to have to read trolling from a different user-name every 3 weeks.

I like this. I'd always said that temp bans would solve a lot of problems. When someone's account gets temporarily disabled, they're a LOT less inclined to go and register a new account. On UBB, when people got the message that they'd been banned, they would go and register 5 or 6 more accounts.

I've tried that, but I can't seem to give more than on Infraction for a user...

And of course ,a good point is Meta... if you can't check their IP addresses then even if it seems really obvious that they ar using multiple accounts - you can't be SURE - so you could be giving Infractions for nothing!

Jive Talka if yo have a problem with it as well, I would advise you to give Infractions as well. Goose doesn't seem to use them, so if its just me using them it doesnt' do any good because trolls with multiple accounts obviously don't stop just because they are given an infraction!

Well it's not that I have a problem with giving infractions, it's just that Aludin/Straight out the Congo doesn't post on his other accounts once he's "trolled" them to death. And as you know trolling isn't a infraction worthy offense unless it crosses over to spam, which I don't think it does that often with Aludin ad blah blah, at least in the threads I've seen him post in.

For the most part that is true. But this guy got his first account banned for posting the same thread over and over [Another 'Meta's daughter' thread - how original, eh?].

Then within minutes after he got banned a new user came on and not only posted the same thread again, he even said it was him and that he was drunk and didn't give a shit.

That's a sure enough thing to me.

Yeah I agree, but both accounts could have just been banned for spamming, thats actually a very easy case to deal with..

A few random one that were just rando profanities. He's also had other variations on aludin, and he had two or thee before Rainbow_Dancer I'm trying to remember. I used to have a text document on jacolives.net saved that I took notes in and saved stuff like that, but I can't seem to find it there anymore..

And now Aludin is posting with yet ANOTHER username.

I think it would be helpfull as then other mods could see if he was up to the same crap in other forums.

Aludin has tons of usernames and the passwords of many other users.

It's a lost cause.

It's like with a stack of work that has to be done. Even if it looks like a lost cause, even if it looks horribly daunting, it has to be done and will eventually be completed.

The same with this poster. It may be tiresome and it'll probably take a while, but if every time he posts with a new account, or makes it known he's using another persons account that he stole, we ban him, immediately. Eventually he'll get bored. There's one Aludin but many mods.

I've never backed down - so to speak - to a user -during spam attacks I would patiently wait the person out and sooner or later they just got bored.

A lot of people think I'm online all my waking hours. But when I'm not out, I am usually sitting or laying down in my room, and it doesn't take much to check in and see if anything needs doing and then go back to what ever it was I was doing. I don't move around much when I'm home because most any type of movement causes a lot of pain. And as much as I wish it were otherwise, they really is only so much morphine you can take till it stops working anymore.

I'm in no way the same situation as you, but I too tend to be online alot. I generally am on totse my every waking moment, when I'm not at work.Even if it's running in the back ground or I've got sketch book on lap, I'm there.

And I too am quite happy to fight your average spammer, considering they have to take regular breaks for masturbation/tea time/going shopping with mummy and daddy/posting on their livejournals/ect..
The spammer is still only a human. They have weaknesses, most of which can be located with a machette..
