I don't think there is anything wrong with them, TBH.
Or at least, there are certain instances where it is applicable. Like when I close a thread for a rule violation, if someone has already pointed out the rule, I used to just quote them and close it, but vB hasn't let me (5 character limit).
I didn't think that HTML entities worked, though. I tried to use some others for fractions and superscripts a few weeks ago, and they didn't work. I guess Jeff either allowed them now, or only certain ones work. Or no, I think I was using the named entity, and not the number. That may be why it's working. Example: © doesn't work, but & # 1 6 9 ; does (©). Yeah, that must be it.
Anywho, I don't think it's really a big deal. I mean, it's no different than "QFT" (or "QFMFT" as people have started using to bypass the limit).
