Default Is this real?

I got a image from someone I dont really know, and I dont know if I should trust it.

Its supposed to be a STOCK hemi, in a '70 cuda, and its supposed to be at the rear wheels running through an auto.

Here it is.

But thats 550 rwhp. Which, through an auto, would mean like 700 at the crank or something stupid like that. They were rated officially for 425 horsies at the flywheel, and everyone up till now has thought they were around 450-475 in reality. NOT 700!

So is this real, or is this some guys printed out excel document, or not a stock hemi? Ideas?

PS: I know the S/S cudas made unbeleivable amounts like 650 with a race prepped hemi.. but that doesnt count as stock, does it?

I think you read it wrong.

From what it graph says, it's about 458HP. And (unless I read it wrong) about 480-500ft/lbs of torque.

and no, that counts as SUPER STOCK!

Parks got it. Plus Hp at the flywheel is only 10-15% (if you wanna be really lenient) more than WHP.

that graph is a bit off. the top set of lines is "fuel flow".

not a very well made graph heh.

Aren't chassis dyno graphs (ones that measure WHP) shown as Road Speed vs HP/Torque rather than Engine Speed vs. HP/Torque?

I think it might be an engine dyno graph.

Believe it or not, you can calculate engine RPM based on wheel speed and gearing...

That is a terrible graph, btw.

And a torqueflite is gonna eat more than 10-15% of your power...

uhm horsepower should be on the right, torque on the left, and horsepower is the curve that keeps climbing right up until 6000 rpm. Judging by this, it reads 550.

also, even if i did read wrong keep in mind thats a chassis dyno (according to the guy) and the 450-475 brake horsepower everyone refers to refers to power at the pony brake, ie flywheel.

But yeah, its a fucking dodgy looking graph. I noticed that myself.

^Except that goes against known specs for the 426.

It isn't a false reading, it is just a old and shitty copy.

If you were to buy a crate engine, made in the identical image of the mighty 426 Hemi, it would make 465 Horsepower, and 486 ft. lbs of torque. ( P5249667AB*) If you cross reference these numbers with other published specs (real ones, not the factory rating crap) you will see that the Hemi makes all of its horsepower (in stock form) at or shortly after 4,000RPM.

Just like on that graph.

No way a 426" engine will make 400+ peak HP at 4000rpm. To get a 426" engine to make 465hp it will make that kind of power closer to 5500-6000rpm. Peak torque will be around 4000rpm on that kind of engine.

^Good point. Apparently I misread something.
