I just ran into this fellow in #totse, asking why he couldn't log in. I promised him that I'd look into it and get back to him.

Was he banned, or possibly hit with friendly fire when an IP range was banned?

HAs he tried resetting his password? Root transfered the password files a bit before the change over. If your regular changed his password in the couple of weeks after Jeff transfered the file before VB then his password that he is SURE is right , will infact be wrong.

His old password should still work if he knows it etc etc

This just happened several hours ago, and he did try that besides.

He is not getting any email replies from totse. It's my understanding that he's hardly unique in that problem.

When did he say the problem started? If it started before today, but vBulletin lists his last activity as this morning, I guess his account was compromised and the password was changed...

I'll ask him about that.

I didn't think this needed its own thread, so I hope it's okay that I post it here.

Someone PMed me on IRC saying that they registered as silver_coin, but they never got an activation email. I told him it's a common problem, apparently. But like Prometheus, I told him I'd post here and see if something could be done about it.
