Well i just moved into my own apartment and as usual i usualy end up spendin all my wellfare money on booze.. and then im left with nothing.. i dont really want to resort to going to the food banks so yea im lookinf for some ideas on some cheapish bulk foods that will last me a while.. it only has to feed one person for a whole month..
so far on my list i have
-big bag of white rice

- few loafs of bread even know breads gettin expensive these days.. 1.69 is the cheapest loafs :S
- bunch of boxes of cheap soup mix
-- a few boxs of cheap kraft dinner
-- a few bottles of hot sauce which will make the rice and potatoes taste decent especialy if im eatin it on a daily basis..
for drinks im not to sure..
- kool aid but it takes quite a bit of sugar..
-i have a coffee maker so a big can off coffee grounds whitener and sugar
- a few boxs of cheap kraft dinner

Pasta, rice, potatos, breads etc.
Other than those, fresh meat and vegetables can easily be afforded if purchased as per need.

Re: Need some bulk food ideas..
Drop the potatoes and add something like lentils, chick peas or fava beans (or a one pound bag of each), for that extra bit of (reasonably cheap) protein. Also, switch white rice with golden rice. For breakfasts, I'm personally very partial to a bowl of steel-cut oats and chopped dried fruits (dates, figs, apricots, bananas etc.) with a topping of honey or maple syrup. A tin of oats, a (large-ish) bag of dried fruit mix and a jar of honey/bottle of MS (darker is better) should do.

Re: Need some bulk food ideas..
Everything listed buy in bulk 1lb or more at bulk stores. - Flour (20lbs min)
- Baking Soda
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Rice
- Oats (20lbs min)
- Vegtable Oil
- Ramen
- Beans (20lbs min)
- Flak steak
- Cheap, tough cuts of Beef
- Bacon
- Chicken
- Potatoes
Now all of these things are the food basics, you can make a lot of meals out of these, for the cheap beef, buy an old fashion hand meat grinder, and grind that shit into ground beef, or use a meat hammer and beat the living shit out of it, and make it into stew. Keep beef and chicken bones (don't buy deboned things) and make broth. Everything should be stored in the freezer or in a cold, dark, dry place, the rice, oats, beans, flour, should be placed in airtight garbage can (new plastic ones, of coarse). Also pick up a cook book or two. Good luck!

Well who's problem is that?
I know it's a revolutionary idea, but perhaps buying less alcohol might make your food buying dilemma a little easier?
Buy a vat of cooking oil/vegetable oil/sunflower oil/whatever, and a huge stock of salt, potatoes and onions.
These all last for quite a while, without needing refridgeration.
Potatoes can be sliced and baked into scallops (sp?) and onions fried. You might get bored of this eventually, but it's wholesome.ish.

Well at least he didn't go to get groceries and come home with a guinea pig...
And I don't think fried potatoes is a really great idea :\
Look into getting a small rice cooker, and get tons of rice. Buy giant sacks of dehydrated vegetables and get some Bullion cubes or powder. Add this into the rice cooker and cook till it's done. Great for supper, add a bit of chicken if you want. Although it would be cheaper to just eat without.
