Others staring
Inspired by the "Staring" thread...
My wife often points out that women are staring at me longer than she really appreciates...
However, I never seem to notice it.
When I was younger I had several great female friends, we always hung out and looking back with my adult eyes, they were obviously trying to get more out of me than I realized at the time, having low self-esteem as any other teenager. I remember many hugs, kisses and more... I would sometimes think that there might be something, but I always discarded it with a "why would they?".
Anyways,
does it happen to you people that people point out other peoples interest in you, and you never realized?

Re: Others staring
Yeah. In my circle my friends always used to pick on my friend Dan because he always saw people looking at me. Once he was even talking about why people would be interested in me. I remember him saying "Why wouldn't people be interested in Nate, hmm? He's in good shape, he's really smart, he's cool, a lot of people like him."
Usually it was only a matter of time before a sarcastic Andy kicked in saying: "Yeah, he's kinda got a big dick, too. Can I see your dick, Nate? Come on, just for a little while. I mean, look at his balls!"
Sometimes I would be walking down the street and groups of girls would whistle and kinda stare. Once a group of girls asked me to come with them in their car. Of course, they were kinda joking because I had my shirt off.
It's annoying when I'm with my friends, simply out of the fact that they constantly berate me for being "metro" ish. When I'm by myself, though, it's a real self-esteem boost. I can appreciate that.

Re: Others staring
From my recollection there's been a ridiculous number of threads by people with the same problem.
I'm pretty perceptive as far as other's interest in me, but I ignore the staring for the most part. I have my blinders on when I go out in public, otherwise I'll fucking scream.

My sincere apologies, MrMojo, I didn't recall reading any (fairly newbie here) and got inspired.

Re: Others staring
No body ever stares at me because they don't get the chance. I'm always the one doing the staring... :(
I'm a hardcore perv. :D :D

Ohh, no no. Haha, I didn't mean it like that. I was just referring to the copious amounts of others who seem to have the same issue.
My thoughts are that it comes natural to some people. Howard Gardner defined up to 9 different intelligences (7 originally) and the interpersonal aspect has always been one I've identified with. I'm sure if you really wanted to you could learn how to.

Re: Others staring
I'm still currently in the "no, why would they?" stage. I'm working on it.

Re: Others staring
Stabby, you need to get over that phase. You might be surprised.
I didn't realize that I actually COULD have a look going for me (at least one that works for me) until I met my wife and realized how crazy she is about me.
She always points out who stares at me, i always think it's because i'm a freak, but she claims otherwise.
Then I think back, and realize how much I missed in my young single years when i was terrified of making a move because they probably didn't like me but just enjoyed visiting me all the time and would give me hugs and kisses.
Don't let that happen to you.

Re: Others staring
i'm pretty oblivious when it comes to that usually, but when people are sitting across the bus from you and don't even break eye contact when you look up...it's pretty blatant. although it is a half a step down from the old honking horn/whistle/wink/lewd gesture or comment spiel.
uuuuggghhh. honestly i don't find it flattering, it's usually just creepy.

That's the effect I'm generally going for anyway.

I'm only a part-time creep.
Seriously though, being a creepy stalker gets me off, but it isn't realistic to be that way 24/7, so I have adapted to societal standards in order to be able to have (somewhat) meaningful relationships.
But what I'm thinking while I'm fucking my girlfriend...
Inside your mind, is the only place where you have absolute freedom. (Unfortunately).
